Functional Training Services is a private Vocational Rehabilitation Agency serving the Central Ohio community and we are hiring full-time Vocational Support Specialists in our Columbus office! VSS provide extra training and support to people with disabilities in community employment situations in order to ensure they learn their jobs effectively and continue to support them as they maintain their employment. This work will primarily be in Franklin, Fairfield and Delaware counties.

This position works mainly in the community at the participant's place of employment. An amount of time each week is allocated in the office for reporting/documentation. The VSS will assess the training needs, set a plan, and work with the participant to have successful outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Reliably commute to work on time.
  • Training of participants in their workplace to meet the employer's requirements.
  • Transports participants within community employment sites as consistent with participants' service plan.
  • Maintain schedule to maximize billable units of service.
  • Maintains daily, accurate documentation of services provided. Completes reports in a timely basis.
  • Assists other departments as requested or assigned.

Shift differential *is paid for billable evening and weekend times. Must be open to working a varied schedule depending on the needs of the individuals you are serving; this can include evenings, weekends, and split-shifts. *COMPANY PAID benefits for the employee: medical, dental, vision, life. **Also, matching 401K, generous PTO, and an employee assistance program.

Must be able to use critical thinking and problem solving, be an advocate for the participant when needed, work with a diverse group of people, and understand/learn reporting accuracy and timeliness.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree or college coursework preferred but not required.
  • Computer Proficiency in Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook and Internet Research.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License with a safe driving record.
  • Proof of current auto liability insurance; FTS-Identified Insurance Provider approval of coverage.
  • Acceptable BCI/FBI background report in accordance with State and FTS policy.
