Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Associate's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). In lieu of degree, two (2) years of full-time experience working in a health education/advocacy, case management, patient care role and/or customer service experience. Four (4) years of full-time experience working in a health care setting with direct patient/client contact and in a role dealing with patient/client issues. Knowledge of medical terminology. Various software applications to include Microsoft Office. Experience with medical charts. Educated on HIPAA rules and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Experience working in a high volume call center environment resolving customer inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner. Experience in outreach, recruitment, or member relations and member benefits education or advocacy. Knowledge of Cerner Medical Records and Centricity scheduling system.

Brief Description of Duties:

Our mission is to provide comprehensive, integrative healthcare of 9/11-related illnesses for our first responder population. Member Services is responsible for navigating program services and benefits providing education to our population along the way. The role requires excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal skills, and a strong sense of advocacy and responsibility for a member's care paired within in-depth knowledge of Program benefits.

  • Educate members on the Program and its benefits working towards increasing compliance with our responder population utilizing several different avenues for communications. Work independently troubleshooting and resolving member issues and concerns in real time operating at a high efficiency within our call center. Assist members with navigating their care within the Program educating them on the different services we offer. Serve as a liaison between members, providers, outside facilities, and vendors for a member's care relating to the World Trade Center Health Program. Participate in group education sessions and community events as needed (can include evening and weekend hours).

  • Manage and assess the level of care needed for a member ensuring that the appropriate follow-up is completed working internally and externally to resolve any member related issues or concerns. Take on cases that need escalated assistance and educational needs. Track and record interactions with members and outside practices ensuring that goals are met with regard to outreach, scheduling, and retention. Identify and maintain members that need follow-up or further assistance to ensure that all needs of a member are being met.

  • Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. **The incumbent must be willing to work and travel between the Mineola and Commack clinic locations. Occasional Evenings and Saturdays will be required.
