OILES AMERICA CORPORATION Strip Line Machine Operator (1st shift) in Concord, North Carolina

Title: Strip Line Operator (1st shift: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM)

Department: Manufacturing

Report to: Manufacturing Supervisor

Category: Hourly, non exempt

Summary

The Strip Line Operator is responsible to oversee both the coating and sintering lines of the strip line process. Expectation is to produce the required amount of tech met material using designated inspection and quality checks to produce first-time quality material.

Functions and Essential Duties

Production

  • Operate strip line to produce required finished material to meet production requirements
  • Pre-mix bronze powder per work standard and inventory requirements
  • Troubleshoot mechanical or process issues as needed to minimize downtime
  • perform basic measuring/mixing process
  • Mix PTFE compound per production requirements. Will mix compound in mixing room and ensure that compound is stored in refrigerated section of mixing area to ensure quality of compound for process
  • Transport mixed PTFE to coating line on a timely basis to ensure uninterrupted production

Quality

  • Maintain and follow quality inspection standards per documented procedures
  • Practice 5S daily; maintain order and cleanliness in the department
  • Follow all documented processes relative to operation of strip line
  • Immediately report any concerns related to production or quality to shift leader

Administrative

  • Accurately complete required production paperwork and submit on a timely basis
  • Request materials and mixtures as needed

Education and Required Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Prefer at least one year of related manufacturing experience
  • Mechanical experience (troubleshooting)
  • Experience preferred in like process

Skills

  • This job requires a basic command of the English language
  • Basic math skills including: addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
  • Must have basic understanding of the metric system of measurements.
  • Must have basic understanding of the use of measuring instruments, including: calipers, electronic weight scales, and rulers.
  • Must be able to understand the use of scales to accurate weigh mixture during mixing process
  • Basic computer skills (SPC, Outlook)

Physical Requirements

  • Must have the ability to lift up to 60 lbs without assistance repeatedly.
  • Must be able to use manual crane system to maneuver large coils of steel.
  • Must be able to pull material from oven using appropriate tools in emergency situations
  • Must have the ability to stand for at least 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to climb and descend ladder (bronze powder replenish)
  • Must have the ability to effectively hold and utilize small hand tools and fasteners.
  • Must be able to visually detect small defects in production materials.
  • Must be able to hear buzzers, horns, and/or warning signals emitted by production equipment.

Safety

  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures
  • Report unsafe conditions or other safety related issues immediately
  • Use required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), such as required respirator mask and hazmat body suit as directed
  • Follow ISO-14001 procedures related to environmental impacts and aspects
