About the Role:

We are looking for a Solutions Architect to join our Customer Success team. As a Solutions Architect (SA), you will play a crucial role in helping customers leverage streaming architectures and applications to achieve their business goals. In this role, you will interact directly with customers to provide software architecture, design, and operations expertise that leverages your deep knowledge of and experience in Apache Flink, Kafka Streams, the Confluent platform, and complementary systems such as Spark, Hadoop, Storm, relational and NoSQL databases. You will develop and advocate best practices, gather and validate critical product feedback, and help customers overcome their operational challenges

Throughout all these interactions, you will build a strong relationship with your customer in a short space of time, ensuring exemplary delivery standards. You will also have the opportunity to help customers build state-of-the-art streaming data infrastructure, in partnership with colleagues who are widely recognized as industry leaders, as well as optimizing and debugging customers' existing deployments.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist customers in defining their platform and application strategy to transition to a more real-time, event-driven business model. This involves remote preparation, conducting onsite or remote workshops for the customer’s architects, developers, and operations teams,

  • collaborating with Engineering and other colleagues to address complex challenges, and writing a recommendations summary document.

  • Provide feedback to the Confluent Product and Engineering groups.

  • Develop tools for other teams or the broader company to extend our technical capabilities and enhance our ability to consistently deliver high-quality results.

  • Write or editing documentation and knowledge base articles, including reference architecture materials and design patterns based on customer experiences.

  • Hone your skills, building applications, and trying out new product features.

  • Participate in community and industry events.

What You Will Bring:

  • Enthusiasm for solving challenging technical problems and a proven track record of doing so independently with minimal daily supervision.

  • Significant experience with Apache Flink, Kafka Streams, the Confluent platform and/or other stream processing solutions.

  • Experience using cloud providers (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) for running high-throughput systems.

  • Experience operating Linux (configure, tune, and troubleshoot both Red Hat and Debian-based distributions).

  • Experience with distributed systems (Kafka, Hadoop, Cassandra, etc.).

  • Proficiency in Java. Experience with Java Virtual Machine (JVM) tuning and troubleshooting.

  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to clearly and concisely explain tricky issues and complex solutions.

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies.

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time to meet with customers.

We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including work history, education, professional experience, and location. This position has an annual estimated salary of $153,900 - $180,855, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package.
