MAINTENANCE MECHANIC II

40 hours per week

The starting hourly pay for this position is $17.81 - $23.39

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Administrative Services, Division of Plant and Property has a full-time vacancy for a Maintenance Mechanic II.

Summary: To perform skilled maintenance and repair work on state buildings and grounds and to maintain the operating condition of machinery and equipment.

YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential and completion of an apprenticeship in one of the skilled trades as required in the performance of job accountabilities.

Experience: Two years of experience in general maintenance and repair work associated with one or more of the following areas: carpentry, painting, plumbing, masonry, sheet metal work, welding, auto repair or related trade experience. Preference may be given to applicants with experience in the trade area for which the agency is recruiting. Two additional years of approved work experience may be substituted for the required apprenticeship in one of the skilled trades. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for the required apprenticeship in one of the skilled trades.

License/Certification: Valid drivers license if required to operate a vehicle to perform job accountabilities

Responsibilities:

Checks mechanical equipment for proper operation to ensure that all equipment is operating efficiently, safely and in a cost effective manner.

Takes corrective action and reports discrepancies of mechanical systems to assure state facilities are maintained in a safe and environmentally correct condition.

Responds to fire alarms during scheduled hours to locate the source problem and assist the fire department.

Secures facility at the end of the day to protect state and personal property.

Installs and repairs basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting and assists trades personnel assigned to state facility to maintain proper appearance and operations o
