We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Plant Controller within our Chemical Manufacturing Facility located in Convent, Louisiana. 

 Essential Job Duties:

 This position is cooperatively accountable with plant line and staff functions for the successful performance of the Convent plant.  The accountability of this position is fulfilled through initiating effective manufacturing cost controls, variance analyses and reporting, implementing OCC/OPC finance policies and procedures and performing periodic audits to ensure effective internal controls.

 Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and or transport our products, as our highest priority.

  • Provide attention to detail, and dedication to work in order to ensure reliability of the work site as well as high quality product.
  • Participate as a member of the management staff in establishing the operating objectives for the plant consistent with operating and capital plans.
  • Responsible for assuring those regular routine financial and operating statements are completed accurately to plant management in a timely basis.
  • In addition, these results should be compared and interpreted to identify significant trends and variances and communicated to the appropriate levels of management.
  • Select, train and develop qualified personnel along with the establishment of an appropriate, effective and efficient organizational structure to allow delegation of responsibility and accountability for performance.
  • Initiate audits and develop corrective action plans as necessary to ensure compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and plant, OCC, and OPC policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates the plant budgeting process including the consolidated operating budget, capital and balance sheet data for the facility.
  • Responsible for safeguarding assets to protect against theft, fraud and misappropriation.
  • Participate in the development, evaluation and control of plant capital projects and plans.  Review all AFE’s for compliance with plant and corporate policies.
  • Manage and implement special audits, financial analysis, cost outlooks and special studies as required by plant management and corporate financial and operations management.
  • Coordinate all audit activity and serve as the interface with OPC internal auditors, external auditors, and other functional groups in the area of internal control.
  • Support the Plant’s Quality Program.

Qualifications

Qualifications – External

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial accounting preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of SAP is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
