Job Description
The Office of Institutional Effectiveness of Anoka-Ramsey Community College and Anoka Technical College is responsible for college-wide strategic planning and institutional research to support data-informed decision making. This includes supporting three campuses with diverse student populations with institutional and program accreditation, technical assistance, and training to facilitate continuous improvement.
The Research Analysis Specialist works with faculty, staff, and administrators to design research projects, select research methodologies for collecting and analyzing data, and conceptualize and create reports and databases for the purposes of institution and program improvement and effectiveness to advance equitable achievement for all students.
The aligned colleges have three campus locations: Anoka, Cambridge, and Coon Rapids. This position’s home campus will be on the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Rapids campus but limited traveling between the campuses may be required. The position will primarily be virtual/telework but the employee may be required to come to campus for training, specific meetings, or other office needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Organizational skills sufficient to manage multiple projects simultaneously, delivering results and meeting deadlines.
Critical thinking skills sufficient to conceptualize, apply, analyze, synthesize, and/or evaluate information gathered from a variety of sources actively and skillfully.
Working knowledge of higher education organizational processes, policies, and systems using appropriate data collection and analysis techniques and make recommendations for research design and process improvements.
Experience with Excel, Microsoft Access, large and complex databases as well as PowerBI, Tableau, Excel, PowerPoint and/or other data visualization software.
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders in a diverse multicultural and multiracial community including issues related to workload, barriers to completing tasks, questions about completing tasks, and other information important to the completion of job duties and overall regarding projects conducted by the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.
Written and verbal communication skills sufficient to write, prepare, and edit materials such as memos, procedures, reports, presentations, etc., and clearly explain, discuss, communicate, and present complex ideas, regulations, policies and procedures to staff, managers, and senior managers.
Knowledge and ability to understand issues around data privacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Preferred Qualification
Two years of recent experience with data analysis in a higher education environment within the last five years
Bachelor’s degree with institutional research experience or master’s degree in social sciences, Information Management, or related field.
Knowledge of key terms and metrics used in higher education institutional research and higher education policies, procedures, and standards.
Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes and/or program evaluation.
Intermediate experience with Microsoft Access and Excel.
Experience creating, updating, and maintaining reports in Power BI.
Experience with survey design and administration.
