Associate Project & Program Manager

Basic Function

The Project Manager is a driven leader who can expertly facilitate the delivery of a project from beginning to end, assisting professionals to exceed business and customer expectations on a wide variety of enterprise initiatives. The Project Manager is a pro-active servant leader who partners with stakeholders to translate the customer and business needs into actions plans to be executed by the team. A credible and impactful communicator, he/she operates with a “no surprise” approach and ensures open and honest communication in all aspects of their work. The candidate will have a successful track record of facilitating and coordinating with high-performing teams, including virtual teams. Primary focus is the management of software development and technology initiatives and processes across multiple business units, including Software Development, Infrastructure, Professional Services, Customer Support, Product Management. Other projects may include strategic initiatives, product development, migrations, cross-organizational efficiency, and transformational initiatives, aligned with business strategy, direction, and priorities. This position also interacts consistently with executives and other senior leaders, managers, and professionals across all of Wolters Kluwer.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage projects, coordinating work across multiple remote teams in a cross-matrixed organization, to deliver complex and high-quality solutions.

  • Oversee governance of strategic initiatives while maintaining visibility and accountability of various workstreams.

  • Build strategic and trusted partnerships across the organization ensuring alignment with dynamic and evolving business needs.

  • Apply expert project management skills to maintain a clear overview of timelines and progress, with the ability to provide timely and accurate updates on program health to a cross-functional audience of executive leadership, senior technical, business, marketing, and operations stakeholders.

  • Identify and synchronize project interdependencies across multiple teams and navigate risks and change.

  • Ensure project execution aligns with business strategy and goals.

  • Provide visibility to ensure alignment and engagement of senior leadership and key stakeholders with effective communication and governance processes.

  • Lead project presentations, post project reviews and identification and recommendation of opportunities for improvement.

  • Apply Agile / SAFe methodologies including integrated backlogs that span multiple organizations (Software Development, Infrastructure, Professional Services, Customer Support, Product Management). Sometimes collaborating with Scrum Masters and Product Owners to ensure readiness for Program Increment (PI) planning events and facilitate PI planning events.

Job Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.

  • Certification through PMI or other recognized Project Management educational institute or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

  • Overall 3+ years’ experience leading complex multi-phased projects or equivalent required.

  • Experience or background in technology projects, including migrations, process, and best practices implementation.

  • Experience facilitating and aligning multiple functional teams to common goal and driving strategic delivery.

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

  • Proven ability to deliver large projects across is required.

  • Experience in the use of multiple methodologies, including but not limited to Agile, SAFe and LACE frameworks.

  • Expert communication skills with ability to distill and relay key information to executives.

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, techniques, and tools required.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and projects, ability to work independently and maintain self-motivation, strong interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication skills required.

  • Proven experience in all aspects of Project Management including:

  • Project Scope Management

  • Project Planning

  • Project Resource Management

  • Project Cost Management

  • Project Issue/Risk Management

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products required including Microsoft Project.

  • Understanding of Tax and Accounting industry products and solutions preferred

Travel requirements

  • May require some domestic trips of 3-4 days each year.
