The University of Miami is a private research-intensive institution with over 15,000 students located in suburban Coral Gables just minutes away from downtown Miami. The University’s 12 colleges and schools offer degrees in 150 undergraduate, 130 masters, and 60 doctoral areas of study. The School of Education and Human Development at the University of Miami houses three academic departments: Teaching and Learning, Educational and Psychological Studies, and Kinesiology and Sport Sciences.

Position Description

The position is a nine-month assistant professor of professional practice (non-tenure track) position beginning August 2024. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the following content areas: a) sport management, b) event management, c) sport finance, and d) other courses within the program as assigned. The candidate will teach twelve credit hours per semester (Fall and Spring). The candidate must be student-oriented and possess strong leadership skills conducive to sustaining and expanding a premier Sport Administration program.

Candidates applying should have a strong desire to mentor students, organize student experiences and industry activities on and off campus, collaborate with other faculty members on programmatic initiatives, and participate in university service.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D.) in Sport Management, Sport Administration, or closely related field. Candidates in ABD status also encouraged to apply.

  • Ability to conduct and publish scholarly research along a systematic line of inquiry in Sport Management

  • Demonstrated ability to provide quality instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

  • Ability to create and foster relationships with sport organizations in the local community.

  • Must provide employment eligibility verification as required by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Salary

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
