Testing and Evaluation Services (TES) – Staff Responsibilities:

Testing—Scanning and Scoring

  • Interact with faculty, graduate assistants, or department staff to collect and deliver testing requests and results. This is primarily done in person but also includes email and phone conversations regarding services or results.

  • Scans/scores of students’ exams;

  • Confirm output for warnings and errors; correct and rerun test as needed.

  • Release test results and or printouts that meet TES guidelines.

  • Tracks the number of requests for scanning/scoring and scanned sheets.

  • Keeps inventory of scantron sheets, request forms, and other TES-specific supplies

  • Ensure that the software is up-to-date and that any upgrades are completed.

  • Ensure that the hardware (scanners) are kept clean and maintained to ensure they are kept in good working condition.

  • Grants, changes, and removes access to Digital Desk software.

Course Evaluation

  • Establish a course evaluation calendar to administer online faculty evaluations in keeping with university policy.

  • Coordinate the staging of evaluations on behalf of the colleges and schools, including the selection of the type of evaluation for each course and other options (e.g., team teaching).

  • Encourage students’ participation in course evaluations through advertisements and messaging through various University media sources.

  • Run Peoplesoft queries to extract data and upload it to the Course Evaluation software.

  • Grants, changes, and removes access to Course Eval software.

  • Set task reminders for upcoming course evaluation surveys.

  • Generates reports and course evaluation reports as requested by deans.

General TES Responsibilities

  • Analyze and recommend changes to the Testing Center’s procedures and techniques to improve the quality of service and assess testing programs for use within the University.

  • Provide training to new employees and end-users of TES systems.

  • Update procedure manuals and training materials with changes to TES systems.

  • Provide customer support by promptly responding to emails, phone calls, and visits.

  • Troubleshoot and coordinate meetings with vendors and/or IT to resolve technical issues that may arise with TES systems.

  • Observe data integrity, privacy, and security on all TES records; archive evaluations and test score records per university policy.

  • Ensure that the TES website is updated with fresh content, as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements for this position are as follows:

  • Works well independently as well as in a team.

  • Communicates effectively both in verbal and written form.

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt well to changes.

  • Able to work in-person from Mon-Fri, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • At least 2-3 years of higher education or related work experience

  • A combination of relevant experience and education may be considered
