The Senior Director, Development oversees major gift fundraising functions for the College of Engineering and the School of Architecture, including the development and execution of solicitation strategies, cultivation of relationships with high potential donors, hosting of events, and management of two junior gift officers and administrative staff. Moreover, the incumbent formulates programs for major and special gifts process documentation and improvement.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Provides professional fundraising services and support the College of Engineering and the School of Architecture.

  2. Develops fundraising budgets and revenue projections.

  3. Tracks and monitors the emerging prospect pool to develop reports and monitor program results.

  4. Builds and adapts programs to a point of sustainability.

  5. Sets benchmarks and strategies to meet revenue and activity metrics.

  6. Delivers expert counsel to leadership regarding major gift and volunteer development strategies.

  7. Monitors, evaluates, and reports on progress and outcomes against goals.

  8. Administers a personal portfolio with revenue and activity goals.

  9. Recruits, trains, mentors, and develops staff and volunteers.

  10. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field is required

Experience:

Minimum 7 years of relevant experience. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

• Knowledge of business and management principles.

• Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.

• Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.

• Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.

• Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
