AIM Independent Living Center Human Resource Generalist in Corning, New York

Job Title: Human Resource (HR) Generalist

Status: Full Time, Hourly

Reports To: Chief Human Resources Officer

Purpose: Provide expertise and support to the HR department to continuously improve the employee experience at AIM.

Position Snapshot: The role of the HR generalist is to take the lead on the development, implementation, assessment, and tracking of AIM training programs. The generalist will support employees by performing activities that are intended to increase the knowledge, skills, and abilities of an organization's employees.

Essential Functions:

  • Evaluate employee performance to gauge where skills are lacking.

  • Create training strategies, initiatives, and materials to address skill gaps in employees.

  • Foster an environment that enables learners to acquire new knowledge, skills, and competencies. 

  • Design and prepare learning materials for programs.

  • Develop onboarding programs for new employees.

  • Implement new teaching methods.

  • Track and compile collected data to best Conceptualize training materials based on data and research.

  • Instruct employee training including onboarding and offboarding.

  • Support all aspects of employee total rewards experience including but not limited to performance management, recognition, and staff development.

  • Translate HR policies, practices, and requirements into training that will develop employees.

    Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Counseling, Labor Law, Organizational Leadership, Education, Training and Development, or related field AND 2 years’ experience in Human Resources OR

  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Counseling, Labor Law, Organizational Leadership, or a related field AND 5 years’ experience in Human Resources OR

  • SHRM certification is favorable but not required.

  • Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and ability necessary to perform the essential functions of this position to the satisfaction of AIM’s Executive Director

    Qualifications:

  • Refined people skills such as customer service, counseling, or coaching.

  • Ability to gather, prepare, and present information to diverse audiences.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, writing, and computer skills.

  • Aptitude for problem-solving.

  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in both a team and individual setting.

  • Flexibility to manage a complex workload with various deadlines.

  • Prior experience as a trainer or a similar position.

  • Ability to identify gaps in skills.

  • Knowledge of various teaching methods and approaches.

  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and reliable transportation.

    Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Sitting at the computer.

  • Extensive reading and researching relevant topics.

  • Ability to carry out essential job functions without posing a risk or harm to the health and safety of self or others.
