Responsibilities

  • Overview

  • Performs Depot Level Aircraft Stripping, Treatment, and Painting Operations of all Naval, and Marine Corps Aircraft. An aircraft Painter shall have knowledge of how to remove and treat corrosions in accordance with the local instructions and should be familiar with the Corrosion Control Manual, NA-01-1A-509. The candidate shall be able to operate electronic technical publication or, be able learn how to navigate.

  • Description

  • Performs painting, paint stripping, and treatment of Naval Aircraft and components: 95%

  • Aircraft and components painter personnel shall assemble staging, scaffolds, and work stands necessary to perform the full function of the paint shop.

  • Contractor personnel shall prepare aircraft, engines, support equipment, and components for finishing using various chemicals, detergents, and solvents in conjunction with high-pressure steam and water.

  • Contractor personnel shall apply chemical conversion coating to the bare substrate, sand, and featheredge existing coatings using various grits of abrasives.

  • Contractor personnel shall apply protective and decorative coating and paint finishes to aircraft, engines, ground support equipment, and components, and paint insignias, lettering, and designs on aircraft and components.

  • Contractor personnel shall apply decals transfer and stencils to identify and decorate aircraft, engines, ground support equipment, and components; perform high finish and critical tolerance painting on aircraft, engines, ground support equipment, and components; apply sophisticated coating materials such as, but not limited to, waterborne, elastomeric, and low volatile organic compounds materials to aircraft, engines, ground support equipment, and components; apply radiation-reflecting coatings to cockpit and canopy enclosures; mix primers sealers and topcoat material to required viscosity for the individual job or entire paint shop; treat corrosion; and perform wet and dry tape tests.

  • Contractor personnel shall have skills in the use of measuring devices and gauges used to determine the thickness, viscosity, surface smoothness, and gloss of the applied coatings.

  • Contractor personnel shall prepare the substrate for coating using a variety of pretreatment methods using chemicals, detergents, and solvents in conjunction with high-pressure steam and water.

  • Contractor personnel shall perform sanding and featheredging to existing coatings and shall select proper grit abrasives necessary to ensure adequate substrate smoothness prior to the finish application.

  • Contractor personnel shall mask and protect surfaces not to be finished using masking tape, discs, fixtures, plugs, and/or covers. Contractor personnel shall use and maintain conventional, electrostatic, and high-volume low-pressure (HVLP) paint equipment and shall use a variety of materials such as lacquers, enamels, sealers, urethanes, waterborne, epoxies, elastomeric, and ceramic coatings.

  • Contractor personnel shall manufacture and maintain stencils, patterns, and layouts and apply national and foreign insignias, special markings, and designs required by military specifications and individual activities.

  • Administration duties: 5%

  • Should be able to navigate the computer for timesheet documentation both government and company timesheet system. In addition, the candidate should be able to learn how to navigate ASM for qualification documentation.

  • Assist in maintaining NAMP Programs, follow Ground Operating Procedures, and ensure compliance with established safety procedures.

  • May Provide monthly safety training to others in the work center and may coordinate with the supervisor on a regular basis with regard to company administrative requirements.

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Other Requirements:

  • Must pass background investigation for Secret Clearance.

  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data system

  • Experience

  • 4 Years of Experience and Extensive knowledge in Navy and Marine Corps Corrosion Control aircraft will be highly considered.

  • Extensive knowledge of aircraft accessories, components, and other hardware

  • Comprehensive knowledge of estimating hours and materials for completing work orders

  • Experience and complete knowledge of all related ground support equipment, AMMRL and hand tools

  • Must complete all mandatory training provided by Aircraft Readiness Alliance

  • Experience in Confined Space Entry is highly recommended.

  • Possesses both analytical and interpersonal skills.

  • Good problem solving, negotiation and organizational skills/techniques.

  • Working knowledge with computer

  • Working knowledge with Advance Skill Management (ASM) or willing to learn the functions.

  • To be able to perform research, a working knowledge with the following is preferred: electronic publications like Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM), knowledge in navigating NATEC website to access Technical Publications, service bulletins, technical publications, blueprints, IPB (Illustrated Parts Breakdown), MIM (Maintenance Instruction), LES (Local Engineering Specifications), LPS (Local Process Specifications) and TEI (Temporary Engineering Instructions).

  • Business Partner/Effective Communicator:

  • English language skills to communicate with costumers.

  • Strong communicator must be able to communicate clearly both in writing and orally.

  • Provide monthly safety training and coordinate with the supervisor on a regular basis with regards to company administrative requirements

  • Customer service oriented, detail focused, pro-active behavior, multi-task capability.

  • The successful candidate’s starting pay will be based on the current rate agreed in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for this site.

  • The following salary range is intended to display the current per-hour rate for this job.
