Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer. Responsibilities You will perform structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities. You will perform airfield firefighting by involving air traffic or support operations where hazardous conditions are. You will operate a variety of firefighting equipment. You will combat fire or rescue personnel on board ships where conditions create very difficult and dangerous situations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. GS-05 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial volunteer, governmental fire department brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Operating fire communications equipment; 5) Controlling hazardous materials incidents. OR Have successfully completed a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university in Fire Training, Fire Science, or another related field of study. OR Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The GS-05 position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I and Firefighter II. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or Pro-Board to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications you will be rated ineligible. GS-04 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial volunteer, governmental fire department brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Operating fire communications equipment. OR Have successfully completed a 2-year course of study in an accredited college or university in Fire Training, Fire Science, or another related field of study leading to a Bachelor's degree. OR Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The GS-04 position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain the Firefighter I and Firefighter II certification within 12 months of employment. DEGREE AUDITS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. This position is a Primary Firefighter position and is covered under Special Firefighter Retirement. Title 5 U.S.C. 3307 authorizes the head of an agency to establish a maximum entry age for the original appointment of individuals to the position of primary firefighter. For initial appointments, applicants cannot have reached their 37th birthday by date of appointment. An applicant reentering into a Primary Firefighter position may have the maximum entry age adjusted based on prior covered Firefighter federal service.
