The Laboratory Manager oversees the daily operations of the department, submits short- and long-range planning recommendations to Administration; provides technical development and supervision of staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Will participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards Caregiver document. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within

  • Provides overall direction and management, operational planning, quality assurance, and personnel management of the clinical lab. Delegates technical oversight where necessary to department leads

  • Oversees department financial management, managing the lab's budget, expenses, and revenue

  • Monitors test results, equipment, and lab information systems. Maintains lab areas and equipment in functional and sanitary conditions

  • Adheres to all established CLIA and lab safety requirements. Ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements affecting lab services

  • Ensures quality control and compliance procedures are followed and quality control reports are up to date. Oversees, plans and preparation for inspections

  • Reports and responds to all technical lab incidents, errors, or complaints in a timely manner

  • Writes, reviews, and implement policies and procedures for approval by Administration

  • Mentors and supports direct reports in their responsibilities and functions. Identifies and implements training programs as necessary to ensure staff receive training in operations of lab equipment

  • Manages laboratory information management system (LIS)

  • Oversees staffing of all personnel in the laboratory. Effectively maintains quality staffing by interviewing, hiring, and providing staff development through performance evaluation and coaching

Required Qualifications:

  • Certificate from an accredited school and/or licensure for MLT, MLS, MT, ASCP or equivalent

  • 3+ years of successful supervisory experience

  • Computer proficiency and ability to keep up with advancements in laboratory technology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Biology or successful completion of a program in medical laboratory technology

  • 5+ years of successful experience working in a multi-special group practice

  • Ability to convey complex technical information in a clear and understandable manner

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines

  • Identify and mitigate potential risks in the lab

  • Effectively communicate with healthcare providers, clinic staff, and patients

  • Work collaboratively with other departments and healthcare professionals

  • Problem-solving skills to address unexpected challenges
