Description

We are in search of a dedicated Coding Professional to join our team in Costa Mesa, California. This role involves reviewing clinical documentation and diagnostic results, applying appropriate ICD-10-CM, and CPT-4 codes, and resolving billing related errors. The Administrative Assistant will also assist with workflow changes and process improvement projects and will be expected to meet ongoing productivity and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

• Review and interpret clinical documentation and diagnostic results, applying appropriate ICD-10-CM, and CPT-4 codes

• Resolve billing-related errors and contribute to process improvement projects

• Maintain an accuracy rate of 95% or better in coding and documentation

• Verify the correct capture of all ICD-10 codes and correct abstraction of physicians

• Stay abreast of coding guideline changes and identify chargeable items for facility level for given department

• Assign codes for diagnoses, treatment, and procedure for multiple specialized departments, including Outpatient ancillary, Emergency Department, and Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery

• Determine the correct principal diagnosis, co-morbidities, complications, secondary conditions, and surgical procedures

• Assign MS-DRG, Present on Admission (POA) indicators, Hospital Acquired conditions, and accurately abstract discharge dispositions

• Query physicians per established policy and procedure when documentation is not clear or conflicting

• Adhere to the standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and all official coding guidelines

Requirements • Proficiency in Documentation and Policy Procedures

• Demonstrated ability to conduct Research and diagnose problems

• Proven experience in Quality Assurance and Process Improvement Projects

• Familiarity with Medical Coverage, Dental Coverage and Benefit Functions

• Ability to handle Billing, Coding and Reimbursements

• Experience with Clinical Trial Operations and Regulatory Compliance

• Proficiency in handling 401k and RRSP Administration

• Familiarity with Inpatient procedures and ICD-10 coding

• Experience in handling Licensure and Commissions

• Proficiency in handling Queries and Ancillary tasks

• Knowledge of Indicators used in the field of administration

• Proven experience in External Reporting.
