Actalent Hydrogeologist in Costa Mesa, California

Job Title: HydrogeologistJob Description

Join our dynamic team as a Hydrogeologist and dive into complex, multidisciplinary projects! This full-time, hybrid role is based in the vibrant city of Costa Mesa, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Mastery: Collect, synthesize, and analyze data using approved procedures.

  • Problem Solver: Identify technical issues and develop innovative evaluation approaches.

  • Regulation Guru: Learn and apply local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Field Leader: Oversee site groundwater investigations, including drilling, well construction, field mapping, and environmental sampling (periodic travel required).

  • Hands-On Expert: Perform fieldwork activities such as lithologic mapping, slug and pump testing, aquifer testing, and surface water measurements.

  • Documentarian: Document project activities using electronic and written methods.

  • Analyst: Analyze field data to assess trends, groundwater flow, and quality impacts.

  • Technical Writer: Draft technical sections of project communications, work plans, proposals, and reports.

  • Safety Advocate: Adhere to company and client Health & Safety protocols.

  • Ethical Professional: Comply with the Guiding Principles and Code of Behavior in our Company Charter.

Hard Skills:

  • 5-10 years of experience

  • Background in hydrogeology with a solid understanding of groundwater transport and soil contamination projects

  • BS in Engineering

  • Experience with site contaminant tasks

Job Type:

This is a contract position with a duration of 12 months.

Work Site:

This hybrid position requires some days on-site in Costa Mesa, California, and some days remote.

Work Environment:

  • Prefer candidates to be based in Costa Mesa as projects are in Orange County.

  • Collaborate with several different projects/teams, typically 3+ people.

  • Enjoy flexible hours – start early and leave early, or vice versa.

  • Core hours: 10 AM - 3 PM, with a preference for being on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

  • Travel will depend on experience; those with closer to 5 years of experience will spend 60% of their time in the office and 40% in the field, while more junior roles will involve more fieldwork.
