JOB SUMMARY

Review Electrical work documents and associated work plans.  Serve as the station’s interface for coordinating switchyard maintenance activities.

JOB DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Determine special Electrical work requirements and incorporate them into work documents. Determine applicability of various special permits. Perform reviews and audits of work performed by various organizations.

  • Propose time saving tooling and work methods. Conduct Electrical pre-job planning meetings.

  • Develop and revise Electrical procedures in accordance with current regulatory and administrative requirements. Enhance communications by performing a liaison function between various work groups.

  • Perform work in progress and post-job reviews for inclusion into Electrical job history files. Use this information when planning similar future work. Organize, assemble, and maintain Mechanical job history files to aid in future planning and estimating.

  • Propose plant design changes that improve station and personnel efficiency. Perform cost benefit analysis to evaluate tools, equipment, and processes for potential implementation. Ensure adequate inventory of tools, specialized equipment, and support personnel.

  • Interface with regulatory and industry representatives on behalf of Electrical station activities. Communicate Electrical technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing. Participate in the shared resources program. Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.

  • Installing, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, altering, removing, or replacing equipment or devices used in the protection, operation, or maintenance and testing of circuit breakers, voltage regulators, transformers, generators, associated communication facilities, and other related equipment. i.e. Relay calibration, relay functional checks, AC testing, CT testing, and RTU (SCADA) programming.

  • Checking new and existing installations of relay and control equipment in substations to verify correctness of operation.

  • Constructing relay panels and control switchboards, including cutting, mounting, wiring, and painting, as required for a new job or for modifications to existing equipment.

  • Performing assigned duties under established methods and procedures as directed and carrying out work assignments under observation or checking from time to time by a Supervisor, an Engineer, or another qualified Relay personnel.

  • Be available for after-hours callout and able to travel to other service territories for support when needed.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum education required of the position:

    B.S. Degree in Engineering or related technical degree may be credited for up to 4 years of experience, or equivalent work experience.

    Minimum experience required of the position:

    6 years commercial or military nuclear experience. Desired: At least 5 years experience in the associated department.

    Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:

    Technical proficiency in the Electrical Maintenance area. Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation. Desired: Proficiency with current computer business applications.

    Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position:

    SRO license or certification on a PWR or BWR (desired).
