West Virginia Employer Library Director in Craigsville, West Virginia
PRIMARY DUTIES: Oversees recruitment, training, and daily supervision of library staff, volunteers, and part-time workers, including support for special events. Attend Board Meetings and prepare agendas, serving as the Board of Trustees secretary. Submit written monthly financial statements and prior meeting minutes to the Board of Trustees. Present library maintenance needs to the Board, recommending necessary repairs and equipment upgrades. Maintain all documentation required for audits and ensure compliance with state and federal audit regulations. Handle daily financial management, including accounting, bookkeeping, bill payments, payroll, and payroll taxes. Prepare and propose the annual library budget. Coordinate grant writing with the Board of Trustees and submit any required reports to granting agencies. Meet the West Virginia Library Commission's continuing education requirement of eight CEUs annually. Complete Cataloging training through the Library Commission for cataloging new books. DAILY OPERATIONS: The following list illustrates typical duties and is not exhaustive. - Assist patrons in locating library materials, checking items in/out, renewing materials, placing holds, and suggesting book selections as requested. Provide reference services to patrons by phone or in person, including finding information or directing patrons to sources. Manage Interlibrary Loan (ILL) request: consult with patrons, locate and request materials, return borrowed items on time, and manage outgoing requests from other libraries. Process applications for new library cards and manage overdue notices as needed. Organize and participate in community and activities for the Craigsville Public Library, as directed by the Board of Trustees. Facilitate library maintenance in conjunction with part-time or volunteer staff; perform maintenance duties as needed to ensure a safe and welcoming environment. Responsible for library fundraising activities. Pending Board approval. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Communicate professionally in both oral and written forms. Utilize a variety of computer resources, including word processing, database management, QuickBooks, and internet-based resources for information retrieval. Maintain library and office equipment in good working condition. Travel to meetings when required, with reimbursement for mileage at the state rate.
