SAIC SCA Engineering Technician V in CRANE, Indiana

Description

SAIC is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Engineering Technician with a Project Management background to oversee tasking for production, COMSEC laboratory, testing, Configuration Management (CM) and inventory for hardware and software networking systems for the Composite Tracking Network (CTN) program.

The ideal candidate will have a working background in:

  • Overall project management

  • Risk assessment and management

  • Personnel tasking and workflows

  • Technical Data Package (TDP) structure

  • Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) management

  • Production and fabrication processes development

  • Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) development

Job Responsibilities:

  • Write and submit Monthly Status Reports for project support, progress, and risk tracking.

  • Assist with technical support for CTN engineering, modification, conversion/upgrade, network troubleshooting, and software installation of complex networking devices and related systems.

  • Perform non-routine and complex support activity, involving installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CTN networking and data processing equipment.

  • Work closely with government team to integrate system software and hardware upgrades into existing infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations and minimal disruption in project scheduling and system upgrades and installations.

  • Implement quality control processes to validate the integrity and performance of networking and hardware system upgrades and installations.

  • Oversee implementation of QA practices and processes as they pertain to production efforts.

  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and testing of CTN system components for Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) upgrades and software installations.

  • Must have the ability to travel and work with and support system operations at CTN test events and unit fielding events.

  • Write technical reports and record data as it relates to testing procedures, laboratory equipment and specifications.

  • Collect and record operational and test data from testing verification protocols.

  • Oversee and manage in an Open Storage (SECRET) lab with COMSEC items.

  • Assist with inventory management of SECRET/COMSEC secure items.

  • Interface with military personnel to understand and solve problems, as necessary.

  • Interface with Govt. personnel to manage project as necessary and meet project needs.

  • Oversee inventory management for Govt. Furnished Equipment (GFE) and Govt. Furnished Property (GFP).

  • Provide technical support for TM development with the following efforts.

  • Removal and replacement procedures

  • Equipment familiarization and operation

  • Troubleshooting flowcharts and diagrams

  • Equipment descriptions

  • Equipment controls and indicators

  • Assembly breakout diagrams

  • Repair Parts & Special Tools List (RPSTL)

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree, military background, and/or minimum 4 years of project management experience in lieu of degree (certifications accepted in lieu of experience).

  • Must be able to read and understand technical manuals, networking diagrams, wiring schematics, assembly drawings, blueprints, hardware drawing tree, Printed Circuit Board (PCB) assembly drawings.

  • Must be able to assist in the creation and design of technical documents such as training manuals, networking diagrams, wiring schematics, and system blueprints.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of network devices such as routers, servers, switches, UPS systems, and data processors.

  • Familiarity with measuring RF signal power levels; operating RF power meter/sensor, oscilloscope, and spectrum analyzer

  • Familiarity with network protocols and complex networking configurations.

  • Must be willing to learn new skills, such as CTN system setup, networking, maintenance, troubleshooting and test support.

  • Must be familiar with and understand technical documentation, such as Technical Manuals (TM’s), Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) documentation, Govt. Acceptance Test (GAT) documentation, complex diagrams, wiring schematics and assembly drawings.

  • Must be able to develop ISO compliancy documentation, Installation procedures, work instructions, Quality Acceptance (QA) documentation.

  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Must have strong communication and leadership abilities.

  • Physical ability to lift, up to 50 pounds when necessary.

  • Must be attentive to details to ensure products and documentation meet Government requirements and qualifications.

  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% a year to varying locations OCONUS/CONUS.

  • Must be able to assist and provide technical support to teams both organically and inorganically.

  • Must be security minded and able to keep records, inventory, and accountability of unclassified, classified and COMSEC equipment.

  • US Citizenship required

  • No clearance required to start however must have the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.

Desired experience:

  • Associate degree in project management or 4 years relevant experience.

  • IPC J-STD-001 Soldering Electrical/Electronic Assemblies

  • Fiber Optics CFOT certification, or at least two years of relevant field experience

  • IPC-A-610 Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies

  • Red Hat OS Development Software Certification or knowledge

Desired Computer Programs and Operating Systems (System Administration, Operation, Drafting and Configuration Management):

  • Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC)

  • Microsoft Windows

  • Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Access, Project, Power Point, Visio

  • Configuration Management Professional (CMPRO)

  • Electronic Inventory Management Tool (IMT)
