JOB SUMMARY

The position plans, schedules and directs daily projects related to management of the Tree Farm, including lawn, landscape and irrigation maintenance tasks and new landscape and irrigation projects. This position uses an in-depth knowledge of plants growing habits, water needs, soil conditions, plant nutrients, and disease and pest control methods to ensure the overall health and vigor of plant material at the Tree Farm and of those planted in company grounds and landscapes.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Comply and enforce compliance with company safety policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

Communicate daily projects and assignments to Assistant Manager, Foremen and Laborers.

Prioritize and schedule the work of all Tree Farm employees.

Assign projects and tasks according to employee ability.

Handle personnel management issues.

Complete annual employee performance evaluations.

Conduct employee training.

Analyze production and efficiency problems and implements better solutions.

Maintain time and labor distribution records.

Assist the sales team by conducting tours of the Tree Farm and selecting plant material for customers.

Order and approve all necessary purchases directly related to the daily operations of the Tree Farm or those needed by the Irrigation and/or Landscape teams.

Research issues and writes reports.

Assist other departments, when requested, such as Landfill, Operations, Ranch, etc.

Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

Skills:

Strong organizational skills;

Must pay attention to detail;

Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and objectives;

Superior communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills; and

Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Qualifications

Associates degree

At least five years of supervisory experience in a nursery, landscaping operation or tree farm;
