Controlled Env Co Op Intern

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Perform under supervision in all functions of the greenhouses and growth chambers, in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP) which include planting, cultivating, pollinating, pollen collection, harvesting, and irrigation/fertigation;

  • Perform under supervision some laboratory work utilizing microscopes, moisture analysis;

  • Conducts routine basic greenhouse and growth chamber maintenance to include basic equipment preventative maintenance and repair, basic cleaning, power washing, probe and sensor maintenance;

  • Perform scientific data entry utilizing Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams;

  • Follow daily direction and work priorities from Controlled Environment Coordinator and Plant Care Team;

  • Assist in other projects and duties as required or assigned Demonstrate teamwork by completing quality tasks through daily communication and coordination;

  • Solves routine problems requiring original thinking and deductive reasoning;

  • Achieves commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and best practices;

  • Assist Controlled Environment Coordinator with overall logistics, procurement, maintenance of supplies, and facilities management.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Candidates should be in pursuit of a Bachelor Degree while attending an accredited college with a minimum of 24 credit hours completed in the program areas of: Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, Agriculture, Biology, Engineering, Chemistry or related field;

  • Strong relationship and interpersonal skills;

  • Collaboration and team focused – working with International and Domestic employees;

  • Emerging partnership and collaboration skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment;

  • High level of maturity and strong willingness and demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly;

  • Excellent results orientation and agility;

  • Self starting, interested in trying new things, and learning new skills;

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
