Cuyuna Regional Medical Center * Plant Operations Crosby, MN Clinical & Technical Full Time, 8-hour Day Shift FTE: 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period) Weekend Requirements: Weekend call Posted 09/12/2024 Req # 13506 POSITION SUMMARY The Facilities Engineer II is responsible for maintaining all of Cuyuna Regional Medical Center's buildings and grounds. They perform facility maintenance duties that comply with the Department of Health, OSHA, NFPA, Joint Commission, and other regulatory agencies. The Engineer II will complete work orders and preventative maintenance to include the physical plant, HVAC, essential mechanical electrical patient/resident care equipment, and other mechanical equipment to ensure they are in safe operating condition for the Medical Center. The Engineer II works toward the goals of the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center. High quality and overall efficiency are essential components to this success. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Two year technical degree in one of the following areas: HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical, Plumbing, or similar field of study or equivalent experience and minimum of three to five years experience in field of study or plant operations or five to ten years of equivalent experience. Previous lock out tag out, basic OSHA and confined spaces experience preferred. Experience with Department of Health, OSHA, Life Safety, CMS and the Joint Commission is preferred. License/Certificates: First Class C Boilers License or higher preferred. Able to obtain special license within six months ofhire. Valid Minnesota driver's license required. EPA refrigerant license, ESCO or NATE certifications or power limited electrical preferred. Special Skills and Aptitudes: Demonstrates knowledge of basic hand tools and power tools. Ability to use software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to work in stressful environment and maintain good judgment and composer. Ability to communicate with and schedule vendors and outside contractors. Ability to communicate with and schedule planned maintenance and equipment shutdowns with the affected parties in the facility. Knowledge of utilities, buildings, grounds and basic construction practices. Ability to work alone and with minimal supervision. Ability to perform repetitive work and maintain concentration. Ability to recognize problems and identify the cause, determine and implement solution using foresight, judgment and sensitivity to contributing factors. Ability to deal with patients and other medical center personnel tactfully, courteously and patiently; and conform to hospital policies and procedures. Ability to complete routine inspections and testing of equipment to keep in good working order to include signing off on work requests and documenting upon completion. Ability to troubleshoot and properly maintain HVAC and refrigeration system. Ability to read and understand technical bulletins/manuals, blueprints, and wiring diagrams. Must have working knowledge of piping/plumbing systems and the ability to troubleshoot and repair such systems. Base knowledge of DDC controls and pneumatics related to HVAC systems. Ability to use and understand electrical test instruments such as volt/ohm meter, ammeter, meggohm meter. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC and all mechanical systems. Ability to work with no supervision at times and make good decisions. Ability to communicate with affected parties about equipment failures, shutdowns, maintenance, etc. and inform party when issue is resolved. Ability to work safely around dangerous equipment and high voltages. Maintains patient/resident comfort in mind at all times. Maintains a neat and clean work area. Ability to perform all chemical tests on boiler. Ability to fire, operate and maintain all low pressure boilers in the building. Answers all trouble calls relative to maintenance, engineering or repairs and keeps the requesting parties informed of progress. nswers all internal and external disasters and performs duties according to plan procedures. Off duty personnel may be called back if needed. Demonstrates resourcefulness in emergency situations. Demonstrate Standards of Excellence when other duties are assigned.
