Duke Energy Temp Electrician (Florida Seasonal Worker) in Crystal River, Florida

THIS POSITION IS FOR TEMPORARY WORK AND OUTAGE WORK.

Responsibilities

  • Performing Journeyman level duties in the installation, repair and maintenance of facility electrical support equipment, systems and components

  • Performing corrective and preventive maintenance tasks. Interprets design drawings and O&M Manuals in locating and diagnosing trouble in electrical equipment, components and systems. Replaces worn, damaged or failed equipment and components in support of facility operations

  • Demonstrating and conducting any required inspections/post-maintenance testing of systems, equipment and components as necessary to complete work packages and ensures systems equipment and components are returned to operational conditions

  • Maintains accountability of property, including tools and maintenance equipment

  • Performs Preventive Maintenance tasks, following pre-determined checklists in the performance of preventive maintenance

  • Understanding and utilizing a variety of hand tools, power tools, measurement and test equipment and Fluke multi meters in the performance of duties

  • Utilizing P&ID drawings, schematics and technical specifications in locating and diagnosing trouble in electrical/electronic equipment, and power systems

Basic/Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years work experience in journeyman electrical position with one year in power plant or related industry

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of electrical theory and application

  • Ability to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills

  • Formal Electrical training such as vocational-technical school, trade school, military or apprenticeship

  • Experience with single phase fractional HP motors to three phase fractional and larger motors through 300 HP switchgear troubleshooting and repairs

  • Experience with Industrial wiring, high voltage, panel wiring and motor controls

Specific Requirements

  • Must be able to climb and work in high spaces

  • Must be capable of working around rotating equipment and high pressure systems of power plants

  • Must be capable of working in confined spaces

  • Must be capable of wearing personal protective equipment

  • Must be able to perform all duties required for this position

  • Must be able to work safely around and with energized circuits

  • Must not be impaired by color-blindness

Working Conditions

  • Onsite Mobility Classification - Work will be performed at a company facility
