Amazon Technology Sourcing Manager, AIS-SC in Cupertino, California

Description

AWS Supply Chain organizations is seeking a technical business development professional to drive new and exciting technology licensing deals, which are foundational for the innovative silicon and server products and services AWS is building (such as Graviton, Nitro, and Trainium chips and the associated services).

The ideal candidate has engineering experience, business acumen, sound judgment, and a background in technology business development/licensing/procurement.

The job requires knowledge of silicon and/or software development. You will work in a fast-paced environment, teaming up with engineering teams around the world to identify and license solutions for embedded technology and software needs. You will need to think strategically to negotiate business terms with third party technology partners, exercising your influence skills both internally and externally to deliver timely results.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Key job responsibilities

• Internal collaborations: work with engineering partners to understand third-party technology needs, with legal to convert engagement models to contracts, and with finance for managing annual budgets

• Partnerships: structure partnerships and business models for technology engagements, support engineering in the selection process, provide business and contractual expertise, negotiate contracts, and drive executive communications related to the partnerships

• Mechanisms: establish internal processes and create tools for managing technology usage and operationalizing agreements

A day in the life

• Lead licensing and collaboration activities with partners; manage relationship

• Analyze different business models

• Develop negotiation strategies

• Lead cross-functional negotiation teams; work closely with legal to negotiate agreements and mitigate risk

• Analyze opportunities to improve cost and efficiencies

• Work closely with engineering to anticipate needs in advance

• Develop processes and tools and manage both strategic and tactical aspects of projects related to licensing

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business economics, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, information technology or equivalent

  • 5+ years of professional or military experience

  • Experience negotiating software and services agreements

  • 2+ years of engineering experience - software / hardware / silicon

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements

  • Experience influencing internal and external stakeholders

  • MBA

  • Experience in the semiconductor industry

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
