Job Description:

The 4th Year Extern Audiology scope of practice for this position will include; The performance of diagnostic and therapeutic audiological services on patients birth to adult who have, or wish to rule out hearing loss as the source of their communication disorders.

This would include hearing aid dispensing and fitting of assistive technology when appropriate. The performance of diagnostic vestibular evaluations on patients who wish to rule out peripheral vestibulopathy as the source of imbalance. The programming and diagnostic evaluation of pediatric cochlear implant patients.

All services will be provided under the supervision of a licensed audiologist serving as the 4th year Extern preceptor. A candidate interested in primarily a pediatric-focused externship should apply. Internal students and candidates will be given priority. This position will start on June 2, 2025, and end on May 31, 2026.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree; currently in the fourth year of an Doctor of Audiology (AuD) program from an accredited institution; meet the academic and clinical requirements for licensure in the discipline of Audiology.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience in electrophysiology testing including electrocochleography ( ECOG ) and auditory brainstem response ( ABR ) testing.

  • Experience in Videonystagmography ( VNG ), Rotational Chair testing, and Video Head Impulse Testing ( VHIT ).

  • Able and willing to work with and communicate in an empathetic, confidential, and professional manner to patients.
