Employment Immigration Specialist II:

Reporting to the Director of Employment & Compensation in the Office of Human Resources, this position will assist in overseeing the university’s employment immigration program. The Immigration Specialist is responsible for filing employment immigration petitions and works with outside council on permanent residency requests. This role will also assist with onboarding and transitional services for international TA/RA/GA (F-1’s) employees and the J-1 check-in process. This is a lead position and may supervise the work of other staff.

Employment Immigration Specialist II position Information:

  • FLSA Status: Exempt

  • Salary Grade: 13

  • Salary Range: up to $70,000 depending on experience

Employment Immigration Specialist I:

Reporting to the Director of Employment & Compensation in the Office of Human Resources, this position will assist in overseeing the university’s employment immigration program. The Immigration Specialist is responsible for filing employment immigration petitions and works with outside council on permanent residency requests. This role will also assist with onboarding and transitional services for international TA/RA/GA (F-1’s) employees and J-1 check-in process.

Employment Immigration Specialist I position Information:

  • FLSA Status: Non-exempt

  • Salary Grade: 12

  • Salary Range: up to $60,000 depending on experience

Successful candidates will have excellent written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work in a team and independently. Forward-thinking and creative, this candidate will work to develop and enhance the current processes with the goal of creating a welcoming and stress-free for foreign nationals. Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work in fast-paced environment.

To be considered for this role, applicants must have at least 4 to 5 years of related experience as outlined in the minimum qualifications section, including at least 2 to 3 years immigration experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

HR Specialist II:

Bachelor’s Degree and five (5) years general human resources experience or administrative experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

HR Specialist I:

Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years general human resources experience or administrative experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Five (5) years employment Immigration experience in higher education or as a paralegal.

  • Experience with immigration software.

  • Experience using a ticketing system.

  • Experience with software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point are required.

  • One (1) or more years working in Human Resources field.

  • PHR , SPHR , SHRM certification
