Robert Half Network Engineer in Dallas, Texas
Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Network Engineer in the Wholesale Distribution sector, located in Dallas, Texas. The role will involve advancing projects and supporting network related issues independently and within a team, applying communication, technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills to identify, communicate, and support issue resolution while discovering improvement opportunities to maximize the benefit of IT solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Aligning the IT Network Infrastructure across the enterprise for the adoption of artificial intelligence and autonomous operations
• Utilizing modern edge connection technologies such as software defined networking (SD-WAN), secure access service edge (SASE), to support IT initiatives
• Demonstrating proficiency in SDWAN, cloud networking, understanding best practices and implementing them
• Focusing on delivery and continuous improvement with efficiency and a strong sense of urgency
• Managing and configuring VMWare network environments, including NSX and vSphere, for seamless virtualization and cloud integration
• Familiarizing yourself with networking solutions tailored to manufacturing environments, such as those from Rockwell Automation and Siemens
• Implementing advanced security protocols and tools, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and intrusion prevention systems (IPS) to safeguard sensitive manufacturing data
• Automating network processes using scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Cisco DNA Center) to enhance efficiency and accuracy in network management
• Designing and implementing network disaster recovery plans and business continuity procedures to ensure minimal downtime and continued operations
• Understanding compliance requirements related to network security, including those relevant to manufacturing and corporate IT
• Collaborating with other IT teams, such as systems, security, and database administrators, to ensure a cohesive and secure IT infrastructure
• Managing relationships with technology vendors to ensure that service levels are maintained and cost efficiencies are achieved
• Mentoring entry level network engineers and other IT staff to build a knowledgeable and capable IT team. Requirements • Proven experience in the wholesale distribution industry
• Proficient in Checkpoint security systems
• Skilled in the use of Cisco ASA, including configuration and troubleshooting
• Demonstrable knowledge of Cisco Routers, including installation and maintenance
• Familiar with a variety of Cisco Technologies
• Extensive experience in Network Engineering, including planning, implementation, and optimization
• Solid understanding of Network Infrastructure, including design and deployment
• Ability to work with Routers, including setup, configuration, and troubleshooting
• Proficient in the use of Switches, including installation, configuration, and maintenance
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
