Director Behavioral Health Services

Full-time, 40 hours, Exempt: Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

Summary:

**

This position will report to the Vice President, Behavioral Health Service line with a matrix reporting structure into the Chairman/SVP Psychiatry. This individual will provide the leadership needed to effectively manage and help grow the Behavioral Health Services line at Nuvance Health by ensuring clinical excellence, operating efficiency, and financial strength. This will include direct oversight of all outpatient behavioral health clinics (IOP, Partial Hospital, Crisis Intervention and other therapy services) as well as working collaboratively with Inpatient Psychiatry and Emergency Department leadership on central intake and transfer logistics. This role will also be the liaison with all federal, state and local mental health departments and will stay abreast of changes occurring at those levels by attending regular meetings and building relationships with and establishing contacts within these external agencies.

Responsibilities:

**

  • Develops implementation strategies that maximizes potential for throughput improvement of Behavioral Health patients across the Nuvance Health network of hospitals and outpatient clinics.

  • Recruits, hires, supervises, and evaluates all department staff; actively develop existing staff.

  • Identifies quality and clinical performance variations and opportunities providing oversight to subsequent plans and drives execution

  • Coordinates and integrates data and analyses for opportunity and performance review.

  • Defines data requirements for monitoring performance, improvement, and outcomes of care.

  • Drives material improvement in clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction and volume/financial measure for key measurement areas within the Behavioral Health service line.

  • Possesses strategic vision, excellent communication skills, proven motivational capabilities, executive presence, and a demonstrated track record of delivering results and attaining goals.

  • Works collaboratively with IT&S and Clinical Analytics to provide meaningful reports and analysis to facility, division, and corporate leaders.

  • Reviews, analyzes, maintains, communicates, and improves the policies related to the array of behavioral health services.

  • Develops and monitors policies and procedures to meet compliance (State and Federal) accreditation requirements.

  • Conducts monthly BH chart peer review to ensure that clinicians are meeting clinical documentation standards and compliance with CMS regulations.

  • Represents the health system to external stakeholders including other state agencies, provider groups and professional boards, demonstrating efficient knowledge of programs and services offered.

  • Serves on QA/Risk Management Committees

  • Maintains and Models Nuvance Health Values.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Education Skills and Experience:

**

  • Master’s level degree in Social Work or Psychology

  • LSCW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), RN (Registered Nurse) or APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse)

  • Knowledge necessary to provide leadership within the organization.

  • Ability to read and implement regulatory standards and ensure staff is knowledgeable.

  • Skills to communicate effectively with professionals verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to effectively supervise direct staff.

  • Ability to make sound decisions.

  • Ability to effectively review financials and make suggestions.

Salary Range: $65.80 - $122.21 Hourly, commensurate with experience
