Job Summary

Provides skilled general carpentry and painting services as well as supervising other Facilities Department trades people and subcontractors on assigned projects. Receives day to day direction from the leader(s) responsible for the assigned project.

Job Duties

• Be familiar with the scope of the assigned project, the project schedule, and any extenuating circumstances that may affect the project itself or may be affected by the project.

• Responsible for the project to execute the work in a timely, cost effective manner, as well as assuring the delivery of a finished product of the appropriate quality.

• Communicate problems and needs pertaining to the project immediately.

• Coordinate the work of all trades involved to achieve productivity and harmony on the project.

• Communicate and coordinate with the occupants of adjacent areas that may be affected by the work to prevent or minimize any negative impact on those areas.

• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, and other project documents accurately.

• Complete required Geisinger inspections and documentation according to the applicable policies.

• Use transits, levels and other appropriate tools to accurately layout building lines and elevations.

• Perform productive carpentry and painting work during the project at a journeyman level as described in the Carpenter and Painter job description.

• Assure that safe work conditions and practices are maintained on the project site at all times.

• Halt all regular work until unsafe conditions or practices are corrected.

• Report unsafe job conditions pertaining to any trade or task immediately.

• Supervise other assigned Geisinger tradesman and supplemental laborers.

• Estimate material and manpower needs to accomplish assigned tasks.

• Assure that tools, equipment, and materials present on the job site are maintained and stored in a safe, orderly, and secure manner.

• Assure that the job site is kept secure at all times as appropriate for the work being conducted.
