Facility:Dayton Children's - Main CampusDepartment:Executive OfficeSchedule:Full timeHours:40Job Details:Dayton Children’s Hospital, in partnership with Wright State University, and the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, seeks their fifth Chair due to an upcoming retirement. The Chair of Pediatrics oversees the continuum of pediatric medical education and research activities at Boonshoft School of Medicine (BSOM) and Dayton Children’s Hospital while also serving as Vice President for Academic Affairs on the Dayton Children’s Hospital Senior Leadership Team and on the Hospital’s Board of Trustees. This is an employed position with a competitive salary and a senior leadership benefits package.

Requirements:

•MD or DO with board certification in Pediatrics

•Ability to obtain a medical license in Ohio

•10 years of progressive leadership experience

•Qualify for appointment at rank of associate or full professor at a LCME accredited medical school

This position will partner with leadership of Dayton Children’s Hospital, Wright State University, Boonshoft School of Medicine, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and our community organizations to advance the missions and visions, and support the values and strategic priorities of our institutions in a culture that celebrates diversity and recognizes our charge to assure that we provide equitable and inclusive care for each other, for our staff, for our learners, and for the diverse patients and families that we serve.

Successful candidates will have had an academic career in pediatrics and bring extensive leadership experience, including strategic thinking, administrative oversight, and management skills. Demonstrated leadership at a national, regional, and local level is expected. A commitment to fostering professional development within the Department, including mentorship and sponsorship, will be essential.

Candidates’ academic career may have a focus in any of several areas, including medical education, population health, health policy and advocacy, quality improvement science, implementation science, health services research, health outcomes research, community engaged research, and/or clinical or translational research. Those with translational research experience will be most successful if there has been a focus on translation to practice and/or the community.

As a member of the Dayton Children’s Senior Leadership Team and the Dean’s Executive team, the Chair will have the opportunity to identify and share current trends in pediatric health that inform a compelling vision for the future of the profession of pediatrics and pediatric health care while also nurturing new and existing community partnerships to advance the health and wellbeing of children and families in the Dayton region.
