Ford Motor Company ADAS Lab Leader in Dearborn, Michigan

In this position…

The ADAS Lab comprises of talented technologists and test engineers. The team is responsible for maintaining the ADAS feature validation capacity and capability. As the ADAS Lab Leader, you will manage daily test operations to provide vehicle readiness and test support services to our engineering team. You will coordinate with customers and lab staff to complete work requests on-time and with quality. Active collaboration with a cross-functional team of vehicle program, system and feature engineers will be required. You will also use your technical acumen in ADAS test equipment and methods to train technologists and engineers.

Delivering operational efficiency and quality of results are key aspects of this role. Other tasks include ensuring continuity of lab operations through active management and forecasting of personnel, facility and equipment needs. You will have the opportunity to teach and train other team members in equipment usage, test methods and operating processes.

We are looking for a technical, hands-on leader that will be able to quickly determine priorities, make decisions and clearly communicate with both customers and staff. You will be instrumental in delivering ADAS features to all vehicle programs, with quality, in all feature areas.

What you'll do…

  • Manage daily ADAS lab operations, ensuring correct prioritization of lab resources

  • Distribute work assignments based on incoming requests

  • Communicate with customers to ensure alignment on request timing and objectives

  • Hands-on training of technical staff and engineers

  • Understand ADAS test methods and required feature behaviors

  • Deliver efficiency goals, as well as continuous improvements in test operations activities via process development, team training and tools creation

  • Maintain lab team capability, capacity and cohesiveness

You'll have…

  • Associate degree in automotive or electronics-related technologies

  • 3+ years technical experience in ADAS test operations, focusing on instrumentation, vehicle test methods and diagnostics

  • Demonstrated leadership, with exceptional communication and collaboration skills

  • Able to work in fast-paced environment with minimal direction

  • Demonstrated leadership, project management skills and ability to prioritize work for a team of support staff

  • Experience with automotive OBD2 functions and tools: Vector, DET

  • Work on-site

Even better, you may have…

  • Experience with advanced automotive OBD2 functions and tools: CANape and CANanalyzer

  • 1+ years operations management and leadership responsibility

  • Demonstrated delivery of efficiency and quality improvements in test operations
