Ford Motor Company ADAS Test Operations Engineer in Dearborn, Michigan

As a test operations engineer, you will work within the test readiness and feature validation area of our ADAS lab. You will provide vehicle and instrumentation readiness services, ensuring the vehicle system can be validated and calibrated to achieve ADAS feature requirements and performance. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team of vehicle system and feature engineers covering early prototype builds through the vehicle launch on all product programs. You will ensure test readiness, meaning vehicles and ADAS features are functional, and all data acquisition systems are ready for test. You will frequently update ADAS ECU and component software and configurations with the opportunity to develop software tools that expedite the process with quality.

You will also diagnose and triage issues affecting prototype and development vehicles, consulting with different engineering teams to achieve resolution. Other tasks include providing diagnostic support to dealer, media, plant and customer fleets. You will have the opportunity to teach and train other team members in diagnostics and equipment usage by sharing knowledge and technical procedures. There are also opportunities to develop new methods and procedures for our ADAS test operations team as the digital system evolves to the next generation of technology.

We are looking for a team player and a leader. You will be instrumental in delivering ADAS to our vehicle programs, with quality, in all feature areas. You will not only learn but have hands-on opportunities to experience all the ADAS features, participating in the validation of all Ford vehicle programs.

What you'll do…

  • Complete vehicle module software and configuration updates

  • Root-cause & resolve vehicle issues to enable functional ADAS features

  • Hands-on troubleshooting for Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) and configuration issues

  • Understand and verify vehicle specifications for complete feature validation

  • Support over-the-air (OTA) test readiness and validation activities

  • Understand ADAS test methods and required feature behaviors

  • Support ADAS feature validation testing and development

  • Deliver efficiency improvements in test operations activities via process development, team training and tools creation

  • Additional tasks related to business operation

You will have…

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or Control Systems or related field

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Able to work in fast-paced environment with minimal direction

  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to appropriately prioritize work

  • Experience with automotive OBD2 functions and tools: Vector, DET

  • 3+ year of experience in vehicle control systems, automotive development, and related testing and instrumentation

  • Work on-site

Even better, you may have…

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or Control Systems or related field

  • Experience with advanced automotive OBD2 functions and tools: CANape and CANanalyzer

  • Understanding of CAN networking

  • Previous ADAS experience

  • 5+ years of experience in vehicle control systems, automotive development, related testing and instrumentation, and test facility operations

  • 1+ year experience in script writing using Matlab, Python, C, C++ or equivalent

  • Able to support winter test operations at our Arizona proving grounds
