In this position…

Interior lighting is an important attribute for our customers, whether it is for adding visibility for the customer’s activities within the vehicle, creating ambiance or connecting other features/functions together. A typical vehicle program will have map/reading/dome lamps, storage lamps, cargo lamps and ambient lighting on doors/instrument panel/console/seats. The NA Body Interior Lighting team is responsible for program delivery of both functional and ambient lighting systems for North American led programs.

What you'll do…

  • Interface to program team to deliver all interior lighting commodities for assigned programs.

  • Lead sourcing discussions, with involvement of Core engineering team as required

  • Conduct technical design reviews with the chosen component supplier

  • Create specifications, quality documents and drawings for components

  • Utilize core engineering documents and core design rules to initiate and to lead Full-Service Supplier (FSS) delivery of DFMEA, DVP&Rs, 8D’s, and all other program specific foundation documents.

  • Interface with design studio, HMI / Ergo, VO, feature owners, architecture, interior & exterior cross functional teams to deliver interior lighting commodities to programs on time, on targets with quality.

  • As needed, support /generate development of Functional Specifications, Engineering Specifications, Diagnostic Specifications

  • Some travel required to support Ford Assembly Plants and/or Supplier facilities, especially during Program Launch phase

  • Continuously improve D&R process by enhancing requirements based on lessons learned

Applicants will be selected based upon:

  • Experience with component product development process

  • Ability to work in a hybrid mechanical/electrical D&R application team

  • Experience designing and developing vehicle lighting systems with emphasis on printed circuit board design, LED technologies, and the integration of electronics into plastic components

You'll have...

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

  • 3+ years design & release of electrical or electronic components

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding/familiarity of diagnostic tools and ability to troubleshoot vehicle/system/subsystem interfaces as it relates to interior lighting

  • Basic understanding of LIN/CAN communication protocols

  • Self-starter, ability to work independently but also work as a team to deliver on time with quality

  • Strong people and program management skills
