We are seeking a Senior Manager of Essential Services to join our team in Detroit Michigan. In this role, you will lead the strategies driving the Philanthropy’s investments and partnerships in Fresh Food Access, Disaster Response and Rebuild, and Diverse Communities across Ford Motor Company, ensuring that current and future programs, initiatives, and commitments are executed. You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced unstructured environment with a spirit of humility and relentless work ethic that is grounded in team building, collaboration, and empathy. Your experience building and managing cross-sector collaborations, leveraging multiple resource channels, and innovative and technology-supported approaches to social impact will be leveraged in building new initiatives and reimagining how we support community resilience and equity. The right candidate has a team first, outcome driven, growth mindset and leads by example with a roll up your sleeves, get it done attitude.
The Senior Manager of Essential Services – will report to the Director of Social Mobility and oversee a team of company and contract employees in the effective and efficient delivery of strategies to increase fresh food access, expand our communities’ ability to respond to natural disasters and support the philanthropy’s partnerships with cultural institutions and advocacy organizations.
What you'll do…
Strategic development and oversight of Social Mobility initiatives for the Ford Fund, with a focus on Fresh Food Access, Disaster Response and Rebuild and cultural institutions and advocacy organizations.
Engage with select Ford skill teams to leverage the capabilities, interest and commitment of Ford employees for the purpose of positive community impact that is visible, scalable and aligns to the company’s values and position.
Build and manage a community of practice comprised of grantees and community partners committed to increase access to Fresh Food in priority locations globally.
Manage members of the social mobility team including providing leadership development/coaching to salaried team members and oversight of contract workers
Act as a lead interface between Ford Philanthropy and community non-profits grantees that specialize in diversity, equity and inclusion through programming, training and advocacy – building and maintaining positive relationships with external partners
Represent Ford in an effective manner including provide remarks at external events when needed
Manage annual budget and grant approval process for Social Mobility programs
Coordinate collaborative work with internal Ford organizations
Be knowledgeable and understand project confidentiality to protect sensitive information and internal/external relationships
You'll have…
3+ years working in a corporate environment focusing on community impact
5+ years developing and maintaining relationships with key internal/external customers
5+ years program management execution experience, with experience working across organizations to coordinate activities/implementation
3+ years of experience coordinating or managing employees
2+ years in Budget management with exceptional budgeting skills
2+ years in conducting research and data analysis
Ability to think strategically and work across a range of business units
Experience with external community engagement
Located in metro Detroit and can travel as needed
Proven leadership in Social Services, strategy development, and program execution
3+ years of experience with non-profit organizations and/or community engagement initiatives (or related job training or nonprofit areas in a non-volunteer capacity)
Self-starter with attention to detail and a process mentality
Strong leadership and execution skills
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities
Substantive understanding of the issues being advocated
