In this position…

Technical engineering expert lead responsible for delivery of the NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) attribute for steering. Engineering steering systems to meet customer Noise Vibration Harshness expectations is challenging, in this role you will work together with the core and application steering teams to design and develop steering systems that are error state free and meet customer NVH expectations. You will work and collaborate on existing and new steering technologies.

What you'll do…

  • Lead Steering NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) Tech Club and contribute to other Global Tech Clubs with requirement reviews and strategic topics with the goal of teaching, spreading knowledge and empowering engineers.

  • Lead Steering NVH Technical Design Reviews (TDR) and Signoff. Conduct detailed audit and TDR Fresh Eyes reviews to insure robust milestone signoff before Chief signoff.

  • Lead the creation and management of Steering NVH standards and processes using System Engineering (SDS’s, Requirements, ES’s, Design Rules, Test Methods etc). This includes migrating legacy documents into FEDE.

  • Develop Steering NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) bench test stands including setup, procedures, requirements and streamlining data acquisition and processing such as for the Running Noise, Rattle, and I-shaft transmissibility stands being developed to support warranty reduction.

  • Provide technical support and guidance for Global Steering NVH issues.

  • Lead Steer-by-Wire and HD-EPAS NVH development including requirements, test methods, design review and issue resolution.

  • Support Global Steering Design reviews and Steering Chief Design Reviews.

  • Support Steering Supplier Technology Reviews

  • Support any stop ships and field service actions involving NVH issues

  • Support delivery of Steering NVH Quality and actively support meeting R/1000, CPU and Warranty Spend Targets.

  • Support meeting TVM/MCR Targets globally by actively supporting idea generation, requirement efficiency opportunities, and NVH sign-offs.

  • Collaborate with other Steering Supervisors and Technical Experts to deliver world class Steering Systems. Coach, Mentor, and Train engineers.

You'll have...

Minimum

  • Four-Year, Technical/Engineering BS Undergraduate Degree Required

  • Strong Performer (employee who is well respected in their organization and evaluated to have high future potential)

  • 10+ years NVH development experience

  • Demonstrated technical depth in NVH

  • Expert in NVH test stand development, procedure development, requirement development, data acquisition and data processing especially using Artemis software

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills - inherent self-starter, self-motivated and strong drive for results

  • Strong organizational/multi-tasking and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Thorough understanding of steering technology and system design preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to forge productive relationships, achieve cooperation, and influence the priorities of technical experts and other key partners.

  • Demonstrated Proficiency in engineering disciplines: DFMEA, DVP&R, 8D, Process Control, PFMEA, and System Engineering Fundamentals
