This department is rapidly evolving and the opportunities to lead and innovate are endless. The selected individual will have influence over ford products, and a deep breadth of opportunity to grow, lead and advance.
Be part of a Ford team responsible for methods development and process evolution. You will be tasked with correlating structural durability life analytical results with on-road data, and the development of methods to improve our predictive capabilities. You will work with the Vehicle Durability and Reliability department to understand high-incident rate issues and develop methods to improve the robustness of analytical component sign-off. In this position, your primary development will be centered around correlation to tested data & customer experience, so experience and proficiency with strong first principles understanding of stress/strain and strength is strongly preferred. What you'll do...
Develop best practices to make smart architecture decisions to improve long term component life
Develop methods for assessing correlation between tested and predicted fatigue life
Lead development of process & methods to ensure robust design against different customer use cases
Explore non-traditional tools for assessing vehicle & subsystem performance over vehicle life
Work across teams to improve cascade process from full vehicle to subsystem and drive correlation between analysis and on-road results
You'll have...
Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
3+ years of experience with Material Stress / Strain & Strength
3+ years of experience with Finite Element modeling of strain / fatigue
1+ years of Automotive Engineering Experience

Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
5+ years of experience with Material Stress / Strain & Strength
5+ years of Finite Element modeling of strain / fatigue
3+ years of Automotive Engineering Experience
Experience in interpreting tested data
Experience developing new methods
Demonstrated experience leading teams through change
Experience with Structural Strain CAE methods
Programming Skills (e.g. MATLAB, Python, etc.)
Experience using SimCenter (LMS) TestLab, nCode and Reliasoft
Experience with MSC ADAMS, NASTRAN, ABAQUS, or OPTISTRUCT
Strong problem-solving skills coupled with strong communication and teamwork skills

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8 .
