Job Description

Caterpillar’s Large Wheel Loaders, Wheel Dozers and Compactors (LWL WDC) engineering team is hiring a Senior Engineering Specialist to lead smaller NPI programs, manage the project Prioritization and Attachment Rationalization processes for the team and lead the product strategy development process for the organization. Products include Wheeled Dozers & Compactors, Quarry and Mining machines.

This role is envisioned as a talent pipeline for a future leader within the Load & Haul division. This role will allow you to demonstrate your broad capabilities and leadership skills. You will have the opportunity to work with leaders throughout the organization as well as those on the front-line producing machines.

Responsibilities/Job Duties

• Developing solutions for complex technical engineering problems and may be accountable for the design or improvement of complex systems including advanced concepts that align the product to the product line strategy.

• Understanding of customers’ needs and product application as well as the competitive products, and understanding cost drivers.

• Keeping up-to-date with technology and developing increased technical breadth and/or depth.

• Designing new products and contributing to establishing the product line strategy for the product group. Examples include: defining the program, machine configuration, and modularity strategy; evaluating new products and competitive products; communicating technology to customers, team members, suppliers, and other units; supporting and advising other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers, suppliers, and other process partners.

Degree Requirement

• Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study

• Develops and maintains partnerships with external professional teams to optimize the product design structure.

• Develops organizational best practices for the management of product design.

The primary location for this position is Decatur, IL

Summary Pay Range:

$144,960.00 - $217,320.00
