We have an exciting position open within Caterpillar seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst to join our team within the Decatur, IL manufacturing facility. This factory is a key part of Caterpillar’s Resource Industries segment, a dynamic global division consisting of a portfolio of prime products, components, and services that meet the needs of clients and customers through manufacturing, engineering, design, commercial, and support teams located globally.

In this role you will regularly use your strong business judgement & robust problem-solving abilities to help functional leaders drive value through the enterprise. This position will be regularly exposed to a variety of accounting functions, accomplish a high level of complex and/or technical analysis, and make business decisions and recommendations as appropriate. This role will also encourage you to demonstrate and develop your communication and presentation skills, along with providing avenues to interact regularly with facility & Resource Industries Finance management.

What You Will Do:

  • Oversee and complete investment analysis and provide financial guidance on exciting facility agenda items

  • Partner with facility and product group leadership to drive sustainable cost improvement through the business

  • Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A) of several functional organizations within the facility, providing financial guidance and decision support as well as actionable and strategic insights through analysis of financial results

  • Lead monthly facility-wide cost council meetings with facility leadership to drive accountability in meeting business commitments

  • Participate in strategy facilitation to drive improved financial and operational performance and facilitate strategic business unit planning for upper-level management

  • Lead the tracking & accountability of facility OPACC Improvement Agenda (OIA)

What You Have:

  • Education and Experience : Bachelor’s Degree – preferably in accounting, finance or business-related field, and 4+ years of experience

  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

  • Decision Making & Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.

  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time

  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Professional Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or equivalent

  • MBA, master’s degree in accounting, or equivalent

  • SAP experience

  • Prior experience with or willingness to learn tools such as Axiom, Power BI, Tableau, etc

Additional Info :

  • This position will be located in our Decatur, IL office

  • This role is a full time, hybrid position and currently requires 3 days a week in office

  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for those who qualify
