180 Shift Maintenance Supervisor – Decatur, IL – Corn Plant

Job Summary

The Shift Maintenance Supervisor position will co-ordinate the maintenance activities assigned to their shift and be responsible for insuring that the required parts, tools, PPE, documentation and resources to support the emergent activities are available. The Shift Maintenance Supervisor is expected to train, and/or mentor the maintenance work force to develop their skills and abilities and to provide feedback to the employees. This position is a 12 hr rotating shift position.

Essential Job Functions

  • Must be able to enforce expectations for safety, reliability, quality, service and productivity

  • Good decision making ability and problem solving skills

  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written

  • Computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Products and Computerized Maintenance Management Software

  • Demonstrated supervisory, leadership experience and ability to drive team excellence

  • Must be customer focused and be proactive in dealing with conflict, influencing others, listening, management of priorities, organization & planning, partnering, and utilizing a proactive approach to reliability

  • Adhere to all plant safety and operating guidelines.

  • Perform as a team member while executing the planned, preventative, and/or predictive maintenance activities that support the reliability efforts of the Maintenance Department

  • Effectively utilize the assigned craft resources and prioritize unscheduled activities

  • Train and/or mentor the work force to develop their skills and abilities – support the existing Apprentice Programs

  • Establish and maintain a mutual relationship with relevant operations leadership

Job Qualifications:

Education/Training:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma/GED, engineering degree, or apprentice training (refer to regional requirements)

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation related field is preferred

Experience:

  • Strong demonstrated expertise in either mechanical or I&E maintenance, with in-depth exposure to the other area (mechanical or I&E maintenance)

  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience preferred
