Job Opportunity: Senior Property Accountant – Commercial Real Estate

A leading Commercial Real Estate Development Firm is seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to oversee comprehensive accounting functions for its managed commercial properties. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, capable of working independently and within a team, and possess excellent time management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Adhere to established procedures and review schedules to ensure timely completion of monthly financial reports and accounting activities.

• Manage the month-end close process, including journal entry preparation and accruals.

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare detailed supporting schedules.

• Maintain the general ledger and work papers for multiple properties.

• Track and record capital expenditures and depreciation as necessary.

• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies.

• Monitor Accounts Receivable and collaborate with Property Managers to maintain accurate records.

• Post cash receipts for assigned properties, ensuring accurate sales tax allocation.

• Review and apply prepayments, notify Property Managers of discrepancies, and ensure timely posting.

• Process tenant billing adjustments, including credits and write-offs, as directed by Property Managers.

• Calculate and file monthly sales tax returns, management fees, and owner distributions.

• Assist Property Managers in the preparation of annual budgets, re-forecasts, and Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations.

• Support the annual audit process by providing required documentation, addressing auditor inquiries, and recording adjusting journal entries.

• Communicate with clients, providing timely responses to financial inquiries.

• Prepare lender funding requests and contribute to special projects as needed.

Requirements

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

• At least 7 years of experience in commercial property accounting

• Proficiency in Yardi Voyager software

• Familiarity with institutional client accounting is advantageous

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial real estate property accounting.

• Strong understanding of GAAP and lease accounting.

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

• Proficiency in Yardi property management software is essential.

• Reliable, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Experience managing multiple entities is highly desirable.
