The primary responsibility of the Activity Worker is to assist in planning and implementing activity programs in both Gidwitz Place and Friend Center of the Weinberg Community. These may include a variety of programs, such as creative, musical, entertainment, religious, cognitive stimulation, or exercise programs.
Schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
Dues-paying membership in Service Employees International Union Local 73 is a requirement of employment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates appropriate therapeutic activities based on resident needs including large and small groups and one-on-one activities.
- Assists in planning and organizing special events, e.g. birthday parties, religious and holiday activities as assigned and under the supervision of the Life Enrichment Manager.
- Maintains professional milieu in all programs.
- Encourages resident participation in programs and activities, including escorting residents to programs and activities as needed.
- Assists in the coordination and supervision of Volunteers.
- Assists in outings and accompanies residents as needed.
- Coordinates resident newspaper delivery.
Corporate Compliance
- Complies with safety policies and procedures.
- Adheres to laws regarding the protection, use, disclosure, and release of client and CJE business information.
- Attends required in services.
- Reports violations of law, regulations, policies, or procedures.
- Reports client abuse or neglect.
- Records documentation timely, accurately, and completely.
- This position has responsibility for HIPAA compliance.
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens is not likely to occur in this position.

Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelors or Associates Degree in Human Services field preferred.
- 2 years experience working with the elderly in an institutional setting preferred.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

- Must have physical coordination, dexterity, agility and mobility.
