Job Summary

Responsible for managing a team of analysts that support the field finance organization at Walgreens. Accountable for the financial and analytical work product of the analysts that report to them as well as the performance and development goals for each analyst. As a subject matter expert, core responsibilities span across finance, operations, compensation, performance management, sales, and FP&A. Primary responsibility for creating, monitoring and updating targets for the key performance metrics for our nearly 9,000 retail stores. These targets are used to drive the performance management and incentive programs for over 40,000 team members. Two key programs are the focus: the annual field bonus for field leadership and the beauty incentive. Assist in determining the performance management structure for our stores and their leadership as well as supporting the administration of the annual performance management program for every eligible team member in the field. Proactively identify opportunities that positively impact the profitability of the business. Advise and improve upon the various systems and reporting that are utilized throughout the business and in particular within the team member scorecards and key performance indicator (KPI) applications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages the delivery of all financial and analytical work product for their respective team. Ensures all analytical work product is completed on schedule and/or within budget. Delivers quality, unbiased results in support of business needs. Champions the utilization of standardized methodologies and seeks to ensure that one version of the truth is being communicated.

  • Manages the financial and operational data specific to assigned analyses and projects. Maintains a high level of data integrity and takes appropriate action to investigate potential data discrepancies.

  • Executes key performance metrics and insight in support of Executive business decisions. Establishes standard operating procedures for the team. Communicates business results through the use of scorecards and other appropriate presentation materials.

  • Presents findings and recommendations to various management levels within the organization. Recommends improvements to business processes as a result of analyses performed.

  • Initiates and conducts meetings that are integral to the success of the assigned project and analytical workload. Facilitates effective meetings and communicates meeting outcomes in a timely and responsible manner.

  • Develops team goals and ensures goal alignment with departmental and divisional goals. Ensures team compliance in setting SMART goals as captured and monitored through the performance management system. Coaches and mentors direct reports.

  • Promotes a positive work environment by encouraging team building activities. Ensures proper coordination and communication within the teams. Provides direction and guidance to team members in successfully accomplishing their day to day activities.

  • Develops and fosters a cross-functional team approach, providing financial management and compensation support to all levels of the business team.

  • Collaborates with business, management and support teams to ensure strong execution, delivery of customer value and positive business results.

External Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years of experience in Finance, accounting or analytics OR High School/GED and at least 5 years of experience in Finance, accounting or analytics

  • At least 2 years of experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve issues and problems.

  • At least 1 years of experience in applying analytics principles (Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Business Management, Economics or Finance).

  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUMIF function, vlookup/hlookup, conditional formatting, pivot tables and “if” statements).

  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).

  • At least 1 year of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.

  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or Economics and at least 5 years of experience in an analytical role or analytics or High School/GED and at least 8 years of experience in an analytical role or analytics.

  • MBA or MS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics

  • At least 2 years of experience querying databases using SQL, Golden, Discoverer, Business Objects or SAS.

  • At least 2 years of experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).

  • At least 4 years of experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve issues and problems.

  • At least 3 years of experience in applying analytics principles (Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Business Management, Economics or Finance).

  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns)
