Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute investigation of accidents, ranging from simple yard incidents to DOT recordable accidents.
  • Ensure timely completion of internal incident reports.
  • Work with fleet managers and outside repair specialists to make sure all incidents are reported.
  • Document and preserve evidence, including photographs, video, witness statements, etc.
  • Gather and review various forms of data, including accident reports, driver and witness statements, surveillance footage, and truck camera footage to create a comprehensive overview of the incident.
  • Collaborate with experts in relevant fields such as drivers, maintenance staff, law enforcement, shippers/receivers, etc. to analyze the technical aspects of an accident.
  • Interpret data to determine causation and contributing factors as well as liability.
  • Communicate conclusions and recommendations in a concise and understandable manner.
  • Collaborate with maintenance team to determine cost of repair/collect estimates.
  • Work with accounting to make sure they have everything needed to collect or make payment.
  • Assist in conducting Corrective Action Reports to reveal the root cause of an incident.
  • For Keller at-fault incidents/accidents, conduct training with driver to prevent future occurrences.

  • Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Safety.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Class A driving experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to be a self-starter, requiring minimal supervision.
  • Ability to function in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to make decisions and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • Demonstrate core values of Responsive, Resourceful, Reliable
  • Strong PC skills including, but not limited to: MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Participate in corrective and preventative action initiatives.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older

  • Must be willing to work on-call rotation
