Stetson University Assistant Softball Coach, Pitching CH9994 in DeLand, Florida
Reporting to the Head Softball Coach, the Assistant Softball Coach assists in the administration of all phases of the softball program in accordance with NCAA Division I, ASUN Conference, and Stetson University rules and philosophies. The Assistant Softball Coach supports Stetson University by providing an enjoyable fan experience, keeping our spaces clean and safe, helping our students grow, creating relationships which strengthen our alumni base, ensuring our financial strength, recruiting incredible new Hatters, and impacting the lives of young women on the softball team. Serving as a member of the Softball Team, the Assistant Coach will work directly with the Head Coach and fellow assistants in the following areas: recruiting, camp coordination, travel accommodations, everyday office work, alumni engagement, gameday operations, and any other items that the Head Coach delegates to this position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Employment duties include, but are not limited to:
Assist the Head Softball Coach in the administration of all aspects of the softball program
Work with pitchers in bullpens, gameday, etc.
Assist Head Coach with needs on and off the field
Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes
Assist in pre-, in-, and post-season training, practices, and games
Assist in all areas relating to the operation of the softball program, including day-to-day administrative and operational responsibilities
Assist with the development and maintenance of appropriate public relations including video/scouting
Assist with video analysis of games and practices
Assist with the team fitness programs including strength & conditioning
Help coordinate recruitment including evaluation, visits, camps, etc.
Support correspondence and communication as the camp director
Organize all Stetson Softball camps including scheduling
Assist with game and practice scheduling
Assist with fund-raising and promotional activities as necessary
Serve as primary contact and implementation of the summer camp program
Assist in coordination of practice and game preparation
Coordinate recruiting schedule for entire staff
Perform other site and position specific duties as assigned
Required Skills
Knowledge of the game of softball
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
Ability to adapt to the evolving game
Softball experience in playing and coaching
Ability to engage and develop players both mentally and physically
Demonstrated ability to organize and develop world-wide recruiting master plan
Computer skills are a must
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, fellow employees, program boosters, and the public

Required Experience
Bachelor's degree

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as determined by the University’s auto insurance carrier.

Master's degree
Work Environment: Duties required: both indoor and outdoor work; direct exposure to prevailing weather, extreme heat, humidity, and cold; ability to endure physically strenuous work-outs and physical exercise on a daily basis, including standing and/or walking for long periods, bending, stooping, lifting; manual dexterity; lifting of up to fifty pounds; ability to work hours outside the normal University schedule; physical ability to travel; perceptual demands for sound, form, depth.
