What you'll do The Director Nursing OCH Site Lead is responsible for overall management, coordination, and direction of the multiple assigned inpatient nursing units. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, collaboration with organization leadership in support of the annual operating plan, achievement of the goals of the department of nursing, hiring and retention of personnel, performance improvement activities, financial management of areas assigned, and leadership and/or participation on management team and other committees as assigned. The Site Lead, Director of Nursing is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and guidance of O’Connor Hospital. This role ensures the advancement of the mission and optimal operating effectiveness of the hospital across both inpatient and outpatient services. Assumes responsibility for the development of nursing service objectives, performance standards of nursing practice for each category of nursing personnel Provides Appreciative Coaching for direct reports as necessary Assumes accountability for the development, organization and implementation of approved policies and procedures Directs, evaluates and supervises all resident care and initiates corrective action as necessary Conducts daily patient rounds, initiates corrective action as necessary, reports problems to the Administrator Directs implementation of "Resident Bill of Rights" Monitors nursing service educational programs to meet the needs of the staff and residents Conducts staff meetings with all shifts for purposes of planning, coordinating and implementing nursing service policies and procedures Demonstrates consistent ability to manage nursing service problems, emergency situations, and initiate "life saving" measures within the scope of nursing practice Assumes responsibility for nursing service compliance to federal, state, DOH, CMS, TJC standards and local regulations Consistently operates nursing service within budget guidelines established Actively participates in hospital wide quality improvement initiatives, nursing department initiatives and unit-based initiatives through continuous monitoring and system improvements Directs allocation of nursing service equipment and supplies within the facility and establishes guidelines for efficient economical utilization of supplies and equipment Insures availability of equipment for nursing personnel Assesses equipment and supply needs and makes recommendations to the Administrator Directs and supervises scheduling of employees within established guidelines for allocation of nursing service personnel on duty Recommends the number and level of personnel to be employed to the Administrator Conducts interviews, hires nursing service employees, conducts counseling interviews and initiates disciplinary actions as necessary Prepares written employee performance evaluations and initiates recommendations for salary increases, promotions, or terminations Consistently makes level of care determinations, based on physician's recommendations and plan of care, to assure a favorable "waiver of liability" status for the facility Communicates daily with nursing personnel providing clear, concise information as well as specific assignments Assumes responsibility in the absence of the Administrator Participates with administration, social services and rehab services in the selection process for potential admissions Participates in the development of a written staffing plan Participates in the development and maintenance of job descriptions for all nursing service personnel Takes inquiries for resident placement as assigned by the Administrator and initiates procedures for proper placement of residents and level of care determinations Accepts responsibility for safety of residents under his/her supervision Follows all Resident's Rights policies at all times Listens to residents', families', or physicians' concerns and initiates corrective action and/or reports concerns to the Administrator Directs and organizes required documentation for Medicare and individual reimbursement systems Makes management reports and special assignments and adheres to established time schedules Reviews the total clinical record for accuracy and completeness periodically Assures that each patient/resident's interdisciplinary plan of care, including discharge plan is maintained and implemented Oversees and coordinates nursing services with other professional disciplines, i.e., Case Management, O.T., P.T., Speech, etc. by assisting and/or supervising in the development of individualized patient care plans, stressing rehabilitative and restorative activities and instruction Participates with other professional staff in developing and implementing policies for patient/ resident care Facilitates alignment between improvement initiatives and the organizations strategic plan; directs the day-to-day execution of the strategies and tactic necessary to successfully improve the outcomes and results of the organization What we need from you Education: 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, required Master's Degree in Nursing, preferred Experience: 7 years of professional healthcare experience with 2 years in a supervisory position with progressing management responsibilities, required Licensure/Certifications: NYS RN license, required Nursing Executive Certification, preferred BLS Certification required within 6 months of hire Skills: Leadership Listening Build Relationships Team Building Creative Thinking Manage People Systems Thinking Physical Requirements: Light Work - Exerting up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Pay Transparency Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement. Pay Range Minimum: USD $109,192.70/Yr. Pay Range Maximum: USD $163,789.06/Yr.
