SUNY Delhi Financial Aid Advisor in Delhi, New York

The Financial Aid Advisor will interpret federal, state, and institutional policies when processing various aid applications and packaging students. Additionally, this position will assist with advising students and parents on federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs, policies, procedures, and the eligibility of various aid programs to meet their financial needs.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist students and families with filling out and submitting federal, state, and institutional aid applications.

  • Meet with and counsel students and families regarding individual financial aid packages; answering questions and giving individual advisement to students/families in person and on the phone.

  • Work with students and perform outreach to obtain the documentation necessary to process the FAFSA for those who are selected for verification.

  • Process FAFSA and EOP verifications of individual student aid applications.

  • Run various financial aid processes to support the awarding of financial aid, posting outstanding requirements, and generating related communications to students, with accuracy.

  • Sound understanding of federal and state financial aid programs and regulations including satisfactory academic progress

  • Ability to work autonomously and utilize resources such as the FSA Handbook, COD reference guides, ISIR guide, SICAS manuals, Ellucian and other related material for guidance, while seeking further assistance from the Assistant Director/Director, as needed.

  • Run and review reports to validate the accuracy of awards to remain compliant.

  • Participate in college events such as Discover Delhi Open House, Bronco Ready Orientation, and Delhi Decision Days

  • General office duties such as answering the phone, responding to emails, and meeting with students.

  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate financial information clearly and concisely.

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Available to work some evenings and weekends

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • At least one year of customer service/student support service.

  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate financial information clearly and concisely.

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Available to work some evenings and weekends.

Preferred:

  • At least one year of working professionally with SUNY or Higher Education in a Financial Aid Office

  • Ellucian Banner experience

  • Starting and ending dates:

  • 12 month calendar year

  • Salary: $55,151 + Depending on qualifications

  • Reports to: Assistant Director of Financial Aid or One-Stop Manager

  • Budget Title: Financial Aid Advisor (SL-3)
