Department: Academic Job Title: K-8 Highly Qualified Coordinator Location: Delta, CO Reports to: K-8 Administrator Purpose: To provide oversight, instruction, and support of VCA learners in grades K-8. Pay Scale: $38,021.00- $54,068.11 Hours/Week: 40 (Exempt, Full- Time) Working Days/Year: 187 Compensated Non-Working Days/Year: 10 *Paid for 197 days per year with 187 of those being worked days and 10 days compensated, but are not working days. Benefits: Position qualifies for Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) benefits and qualifies for health, dental, life, and long term disability insurance benefits. This position also qualifies for sick and vacation leave.

Qualifications: Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and demonstrated subject matter competency required. Subject matter competency includes 24 college credits in content area and 12 credits of relative content area, or successful completion of Praxis in the content area. Required Teacher Literacy training per the READ Act.

Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a background check to work in a school.

Experience: A minimum of one year experience with learner and parent instruction and coaching with preference given to candidates who have experience in individualized or online education models.

Special Knowledge: The right candidate will have experience in individualized or online education models and programs, as well as expertise in interactive learning techniques.

Skills/Abilities Required Familiarity of interactive, 21st Century thinking for individualized and/or online designed courses including project based learning Knowledgeable about state approved and online friendly content area curricula Ability to incorporate instructional skills within experiences and projects Experience and expertise in data driven curriculum and planning specific to developing Individual Learning Plans and standards based grading Coaching skills for guiding, training and empowering parents and learners Knowledge of MTSS, special education, gifted, and 504 planning and implementation Strong interpersonal and communication skills to balance a collaborative relationship with the accountability required

Preferred: Experience with curriculum mapping, mastery in individualized learning, and online alignment Ability to analyze and apply data for assessment, progress monitoring, and decision making

General Description of Duties: Provide resources, guidance and oversight for learners in grades K-8 utilizing specialized knowledge and expertise in curricula and experience based learning to create, implement, and oversee Individual Learning Plans that meet federal, state, and organizational requirements and standards.

Major Responsibilities and Duties: Create and support implementation of the Individual Learning Plan in collaboration with the family partner and learner. Build relationships with learners and families as collaborative partners in education. Ensure family engagement through active weekly instructional coaching and training on use of curriculum, first instruction, and successful practices. Design and support implementation of engaging courses that meet Colorado Academic Standards while being customized per learner interest and learning styles. Interact with learner and parent at weekly scheduled meetings. Utilize experiences, projects, student designed and led work, and collaboration based learning in the instruction of content.. Utilize data in assessment and decision making for learners and their families, effectively communicate assessment results to learners and families, and prepare learners for all assessments and administer DIBELS and Acadience Math. Facilitate the MTSS process for all learners and IEP and 504 plan accommodations. Document regularly for student learning, attendance, all pertinent information to ensure learner success and compliance with federal, state, and organizational standards. Participate in success coaching with a coach utilizing weekly trainings, observations, artifacts and debriefs.
