The Foreman, in conjunction with the Superintendents, will handle the day-to-day Demolition activities of the construction site and supervise on-site, assigned employees, meet with inspectors, meet with and manage sub-contractors, coordinate schedules, and maintain a well-organized construction site with a safety conscious attitude.

COMPENSATION

$85,900.00 to $145,100.00 annually

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver each project by meeting customer expectations with the highest level of safety, employee engagement, and business performance through proactively leading and supervising an on-site team of Operators, Laborers, and subcontractors with Fiore Pride.

Safety

  • Understand and apply OSHA (and state agency) regulations, Company Safety Program, and project safety requirements; ensure all safety regulations are followed and take corrective actions as needed.

  • Thoroughly understand the site environment including utility locations, terrain elevations, other contractors, traffic patterns, soil types/conditions, hazardous materials, and any other potential risk; take proactive actions to protect team, other workers and public.

  • Ensure all crew members practice safe behaviors, wear proper PPE and comply with all OSHA, Company and project safety requirements at all times.

  • Manage environmental and storm water plans in a highly proactive manner and ensure crew and subcontractor clean-up occurs on a daily and weekly basis.

  • Partner with Safety to acquire necessary safety gear, train team, conduct Job Risk Assessments and team briefings, lead daily Toolbox Talks and walk work area at the beginning of each shift.

  • Maintain OSHA 30 certification and always be prepared to produce documentation when required.

  • Document safety issues and risks in the Project Issue and Risk Log and partner with the Safety, Project Managers, and Operational Leaders to resolve issues and mitigate risks.

  • Regularly promote and communicate the expectation of all team members to complete near miss cards, Speak Up Listen Up, and Stop Work Authority and celebrate when this action is taken.

People

  • Drive employee engagement by demonstrating empathy and understanding toward team members’ concerns and addressing concerns to a positive resolution, escalating to Executive Management if required; inspiring a strong sense of Team and being an example of the Fiore Values.

  • Provide solid team leadership, conduct regular one-on-ones with each team member, and assist with training and development.

  • Ensure accessibility for employees and Fiore support teams to address questions or concerns and provide coaching and mentorship in a supportive and empathetic manner.

  • Exercise strong communication skills to guarantee the team’s objectives are met.

  • Utilize a “show them” rather than “tell them” approach to developing the team and team members and utilize the Speak Up Listen Up process.

  • Follow-up with team members and Fiore support teams to ensure commitments are fulfilled.

Customer

  • Understand the scope, specifications and technical requirements in a thorough manner to ensure project is constructed according to intended design, quality and safety standards while maintaining budget and schedule goals.

  • Coordinate with Customer and Project Managers’ construction schedules to deliver on-time while coordinating with other onsite crafts.

  • Attend onsite project meetings and coordinate mobilizations, surveys, locates, material delivery, inventory, and ticket signoffs.

  • Resolve field problems expeditiously to minimize delays and costs.

  • Coordinate with inspectors and resolve any items in a quick and thorough manner.

  • Document project issues and risks in the Project Issue and Risk Log and partner with the Project Managers and Operational Leaders to resolve issues and mitigate risks.

Business

  • Assure all work is completed in the most cost-efficient and productive manner, in accordance with project specifications.

  • Maintain and complete accurate daily and weekly project activity reports.

  • Recommend changes to project schedule to Project Manager to improve crew scheduling efficiencies and increase productivity, equipment and methods.

  • Ensure that each subcontractor complies with all requirements and maintains project specifications.

  • Perform construction activities including, but not limited to, preparation (including calling for locates), operation, and closing of jobsite as well as proper quality control of work completed.

  • Monitor equipment utilization and partner with the Equipment department to improve equipment utilization and schedule equipment moves timely.

  • Operate vehicles and equipment such as pick-up trucks, motor graders, front-end leaders, track type dozers, track type excavators, skid steers, and water trucks as required.

  • Gather and enter crew payroll time and verify accuracy and cost code.

  • Document schedule, cost, and project issues and risks in the Project Issue and Risk Log and partner with the Project Manager and Operational Leaders to resolve issues and mitigate risks.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Solid knowledge of heavy construction, including:

  • Experience operating a variety of heavy construction equipment (skid-steer, loader, excavator, blade, etc.) and the ability to train and correct others on the same.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand plan drawings, stakes, and grading.

  • Top notch management skills, including:

  • Passion and skill for supervisory duties and engaging team members.

  • Patience and insight with a wide variety of personalities and communication styles.

  • Excellent conflict management skills.

  • Strong training capabilities.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with members of the team, GCs, owners, contractors, inspectors and suppliers.

  • Big picture understanding of construction projects, including budgets, timelines, prioritization, and milestones.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Required: At minimum a high school diploma or GED, willingness to learn, and trainability. 10 Hours OSHA Safety class within 30 days of assignment. Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner. Basic to intermediate computer skills to perform report

  • Preferred: Construction degree and 1 year of Supervisory experience or 3 or more years of Supervisory experience in the civil construction trade. Broad understanding of grading and staking horizontal construction and dirt moving principles plus Safety and OSHA compliance with 30-hour OSHA Safety class. Understanding of budget project principals is a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

This position requires the ability to communicate in English with co-workers, customers and the general public.

MATH SKILLS

This job requires the ability to understand and execute basic math equations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work functions require the physical ability and mobility to safely walk in undeveloped project grounds, as well as to sit, stand, and ride in vehicles for long periods of time, as well as the physical ability and mobility to repeatedly push, pull and climb repeatedly, to access equipment, modify attachments, and control cabin. Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time, as well as to lift up to 50 pounds intermittently.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Outside work exposed to variant weather conditions (hot, rain, snow) and muddy ground conditions. When operating vehicles, subject to continuous bouncing, shaking and equipment vibration throughout the course of their shift.
