RK Mechanical, Inc Estimating Manager in Denver, Colorado

Position and Responsibilities Overview

Manage and mentor an effective Estimating Team. Conduct employee reviews for Estimating Team. Distribute workload amongst Estimating Team. Track productivity on past projects and follow up on past awards. Fill in minor and major scope/design gaps. Provide detailed breakouts for customers including accurate scope letters and exclusions. Provide extensive value engineering ideas. Review all project documents and ensure accurate scopes of work are prepared. Prepare and or review material, labor, and equipment takeoffs. Walk difficult projects to ensure accurate and constructable take-off. Identify and document difficult/non-standard conditions. Clarify scope with General Contractor, Engineer, and Preconstruction Team. Obtain quotes and coordinate/qualify scope with vendors and subcontractors. Maintain positive vendor relations. Network as needed. Verify estimate accuracy by comparing data versus similar bids and historical trends. Liaison between Estimating, Preconstrucion, and Operations. Oversee and maintain updated and accurate database pricing. Provide complete and accurate trade specific estimates. Review and or assemble bid tab with estimates and vendor/sub quotes. Completely assemble the bid tab in a timely manner with assistance of estimating teams. Facilitate and participate in pre-bid/post-bid meetings. Ensure bid margins align with Business Unit expectations. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Team Leader College/University graduate preferred with 15 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of skills and experience with proven specialist expertise including fiscal responsibilities. Independent decision making. Responsible for a single department or functional area either as a manager or functional expert. Initiates and maintains relationships with key staff, other departments, and external stakeholders (vendors, clients, partners). Makes authoritative decisions and recommendations having important impact on activities of the company. Demonstrates a high degree of creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented complexities. Determines program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects and developing standards and guidelines for diverse activities.
